Wow. Didn't see that one coming. What a jarring change!

Magic 104.9 must've usurped too much of GR 94.9's audience to keep it viable.

Will have to track down a listen live link!

A classic country format that is centered on the 1993 to 2008 era, with no pop crossover artists, could do reasonably well. I would devote about 20 to 30 percent of the playlist to 60s/70s/80s artists.

The Nash Icon format found in Muskegon and Monroe stinks, features almost zero pre-1995 material, and plays faux country artists from the 2000's far too often.

Looks like a new web site is already being constructed:
http://jethro.fm/

Listening live right now.

It appears the 99.5 translator serving the Lowell area might be signing on soon.

The imaging sounds well produced for such a tiny station. It's brimming with attitude, clearly an attempt to appeal to middle-aged & younger adults. It's a shame this programming isn't available on a stronger signal. Would be great to hear this programming on 101.3, for example, given its heritage. (Of course, an iFart attempt at such a format would sound terrible compared to the great music 94.9 is playing.)

The station also seems to be playing some outlaw country as part of its music mix, not just mainstream classics. There are some surprise songs - older stuff - from outside the genre tossed in once in a while as well.

I'm already hearing local commercials! This new station must've been in the works for a while. Of course, some of the commercials are left over from the prior format.

When the old WCUZ was doing "Country Gold," the station sounded so flat & boring. All the edgy songs were avoided, the imaging screamed "this is a station for grampa," the jocks were liner readers, and the playlist was predictable. I like 94.9's take on the format better for sure.

I heard a dead carrier on 99.5 this afternoon on the Northeast side of Grand Rapids. Looks like Jethro FM is getting ready to launch their translator in Lowell.

I listened to Jethro on my way out of Grand Rapids on Friday and one of the songs they played was "Take It to the Limit" by the Eagles. Not a country song per se, but sounds closer to country than most of that bro country that populates country music radio today

Not exactly a well organized launch for this new station...

Their web page still shows programming from the prior Urban format, and I am unable to find any sign of a Facebook presence.

The V/O imaging - which is well produced - seems very limited in terms of number of cuts. I think I've heard four or five different reads max.

I hear their new translator on 99.5 from lowell is now on the air. Pretty weak by time you get to the northeast side of Grand Rapids, but it can be heard.

Take It To The Limit is soft rock.
Not even close to country.

The Eagles do have a lot of country rock crossovers though. Just not that song.

That reminds me to share my childhood memories of listening to a song on the radio called "take it to the lemon" :rollin

Was picking up a decent signal on 99.5 in the car starting in Gaines Twp earlier today. Very listenable with minimal splashover from 99.3. Had to get east of Ford Airport to receive a strong enough signal for it to lock in on seek mode - and it only did so intermittently. Lost the signal around the Clarksville exit on I-96.

Audio was clear but low. Loudness needs to be increased a bit.

Listened to this for the first time yesterday. Overall, I quite liked the mix and I thought overall the sound of the station was good. Hope it does well! I also hear several spots played in the few hours that I listened.
