New News Channel coming to WHNE 14.9
It looks like a news channel called News Net, focusing solely on headlines without the commentary and banter, will be debuting on 14.9 in January.

Why all these sub channels when the signal is so limited.

It is not limited, you should probably get a new better antenna

I have an antenna in attic and have no problem whatsoever, the problem is the TV station it’s a low power station and just naturally is limited to a small footprint for coverage area my question is why so many subs even full power stations don’t have 9 subs.

And then you have to remember that there are low-powered stations in San Francisco and Atlanta that have much more subchannels than even WHNE.RadioKev wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 3:02 pmI have an antenna in attic and have no problem whatsoever, the problem is the TV station it’s a low power station and just naturally is limited to a small footprint for coverage area my question is why so many subs even full power stations don’t have 9 subs.
My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!
Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)

Although technically not an LPTV, I get Channel 16 from Wheatley, ON 38.6 miles away and it only runs at 3.4 kilowatts. If you're more than 38.6 miles from WHNE's tower there's absolutely nothing you can do to receive it.RadioKev wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 3:02 pmI have an antenna in attic and have no problem whatsoever, the problem is the TV station it’s a low power station and just naturally is limited to a small footprint for coverage area my question is why so many subs even full power stations don’t have 9 subs.

Re: New News Channel coming to WHNE 14.9
don't most SD feeds eat only 1-2 MB of bandwidth? if so, then having a dozen or so subchannels is feasible without *too* much degradation or compression

They can do many subs because they do not have any HD subchannels. High Definition video needs more data to carry HD content without the HD programming pixellating or corrupting.RadioKev wrote: ↑Thu Nov 22, 2018 3:02 pmI have an antenna in attic and have no problem whatsoever, the problem is the TV station it’s a low power station and just naturally is limited to a small footprint for coverage area my question is why so many subs even full power stations don’t have 9 subs.

Unfortunately Newsmax has completely pulled out of the OTA tv market.
