Amazing both stations changed formats in 1980 and both did very well in ratings though the years and now today both are under performers.

I don't think I could put a price on what I'd pay to tune in 98.7 and no longer hear that lame so-called music. When I was much younger, WLLZ was my favorite station, bar none. Their playlist in 1995 is very similar to what my iPod looks like today. I was crushed when they changed to Smooth Jazz. I thought I could give them a chance in 2009 when AMP came on, in hopes they'd put a better spin on the "weed, money, guns and pussy" mentality that was CHR. And it's even worse now. Between WKQI, WJLB, WDZH, WGPR and to some extent WDVD, I'd rather pierce my ears with hedge trimmers than have to hear another second of Cardi B or whoever the flavor of the month is.

"Entercom, if you're listening...I hope you can flip 98.7 to something less ignorant!"

You’re right Mega back then FM radio was in it’s prime WLLZ,89X,WRIF,Oldies 104.3 , Z Rock, Star 97 and the list goes on up until deregulation in 1996 then that was the end of great radio as we knew it maybe I’m to Old for most formats today but I cannot handle FM anymore now it’s what I grew up with AM radio Talk Radio, Real Oldies, and Sports.

I'd love to have a real rock station again. A real balls out war. As someone that used to have a hard time programming presets from numerous choices, it's now down to 950 WWJ primarily, then maybe 94.7 WCSX or 94.9 WMMQ. Maybe 103.9 The Fox if it cooperates. Too much "she doesn't love me" on 106.7 and "I have a small dick" on WRIF.

I also remember WKNR FM 100.3 around 1969 was an Underground Rock station along with WABX 99.5 Free-Form station and can’t forget WXYZ 101.1 FM with Album Rock Format also in Detroit we had WCAR AM 1130 try to make ago at Album Rock around 72” and even in Windsor we had CJOM 88.7 which by the way was the most Free Form Rock the Detroit area because of Cancon laws so no repeats of songs.

They would never bring back WLLZ but My guess is R&B but a soft R&B like The WAVE in L.A. check them out on line and draw your own conclusions it The WAVE 94.7 they are an Entercom station.

Let's see if it earns a place on my presets.
