A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

DE-TROY-UT! :)

He was one of the hockey broadcasting greats. I appreciate hockey play-by-play men who don't scream every time a goal is scored.

Some aspects of his on-air demeanor remind me of another legendary sports broadcaster - Keith Jackson.

Cole and Neale, with Cherry and MacLean at intermission, were must see viewing for many years. I know quite a few people who preferred watching CBC for the playoffs to whichever American network was carrying the NHL at the time.

Cole definitely was much better than Doc Emrick's carnival barking style of play-by-play.

In my case, it wasn't by choice. Living in northern Michigan in the 90s and without cable TV for many of those years, it was always a treat when TV reception from Ontario came booming in and hockey was on. Seems like it was UHF channel either 40 or 45.

You were watching it on channel 45 out of Wingham.

Bob was probably the best Canadian hockey announcer outside of Foster Hewitt. I always loved him and his energy and love of Hockey.

Doc's a great guy who knows so much about the game and I really liked him for the drama he could build for a big game, but some of his calls could be a little on the loud side for me. I think Sean McDonough from ESPN is a bit bland.
