Very sad. Only 73. I remember when Bill returned to Toledo back in the 80's, on the old 105FM 3WM, with much fanfare.

I miss his funny song observations on WRQN. He was the perfect nighttime host. I never knew his shift was VT'd. With Johnny D, it's painfully obvious.

According to Paul W. Smith, Bill died from COVID.

Services are Thursday, in Bowling Green.

Bill had an enjoyable mid-day and PM drive show on WSPD in 1983 when ratings were decent. Actually put time and preperation into his shifts. What's surprising is that "Bill" was quite an athelete and runner, yet still expired from Covid, so Covid doesn't discriminate among healthy people either. Too bad. Only 93.5 oldies DJ's still around are "Bob Kelly" and "Buddy Carr" although neither are on-air that I know of. Ron Finn is on the religious station in AM drive 89.7, but that's about it.

Ron Sobczak and Jim "Dr. Gold" Bayer are still alive but are not on the air either.

What's Big Jim up to? He is a great guy, worked with him for a few years when we were both part time at Star 105. He used to have a H*** card catalogue of artist info he'd lug into the studio every weekend. He used to tell me about how he and his friends would watch Mojo Man do his show through the window at the Pickle Palace back in the WOHO days. He was always fun to talk to about radio history.

No, there was "Big Jim" the part time DJ that was on 105, 94, and 93 for quite a few years.

No, not the drunk that used to keep hooch in his trunk. What was in the slurry cup, was not slurpy.

FYI, Big Jim was in Vegas and not hanging around "The good guys." Might you be thinking of "Dr. Gold?"

Big Jim Horton worked his ass off. He worked hard. Unfortunately, the "boss jock" style was long gone. Then he moved on down the hall.

He was friendly to everyone, regardless. That was respectable, compared to what people did not think I heard. Jum was not 2 faced like the other 90% of Cumuless staff.

Someone said he was one of the few that was at Stewart's/Bill's funeral, which is sad.
