Toledo's Zone Moving to 94.5 HD-2 May 1st

Once again, The Zone is leaving 100.7fm and moving to 94.5 HD2. I've also noticed that. 1007theticket.com is not re-directing me to a radio station in Ft Smith AR and also 1007thezone.com re-directs you to Cumulus's main website.

Thanks for the info. At least they're not dumping "The Zone" entirely. Especially since 89X is no longer around.

Could this also be the same day of 100.7 flipping to sports and the new format at 106.5?

Based on the re-activation of the HD on WXKR, that was my assumption that HD-2 would be the new landing spot for The Zone and the sports programming that is now on 106.5 would have to move to WQQO-HD2 to legally reside on 100.7FM.
iHeart gets some relatively decent ratings for what little work they have to put into WVKS-HD2 and its 94.9 translator.

My guess is, at midnight Sat May 1, 100.7 flips over to sports. I'm guessing 0 changes other then the dial position. Now, I'm thinking they may simulcast 106.5 for a very brief time or... might 106.5 go off the air for a couple days or go right into the new format?

My only thing is, get a new station logo please and "ESPN 106.5 Ticket" sounds clunky. How about " Toledo's home for sports, ESPN 100.7" or " Toledo's place(or home) for sports 100.7 The Ticket".

Would be nice to see The Zone have a translator, hmm? Maybe on 94.1 or 102.7?

Even if The Zone doesn't get another translator for a while, it's easy enough to stream for those of us who don't have an HD radio. In fact, the Tunein app and website already have it listed under "local radio" as 94.5-hd2. I assume iHeart will show the same eventually, since Cumulus still streams their stations on iHeart as well as Tunein.

True that. The Zone just comes and goes. Still, in the car there's no 89x to fall back on now. It's WIOT or WXKR once again, if your lucky WRIF 101.1. Listeners who don't want crust bucket Billy Squire, Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Metallica are SOL once again.

If Cumulus were smart (they're not), they'd shitcan the failed format on 105.5 and flip it to hard rock.

This would provide them a setup in Toledo very similar to Cincinnati, where they have (among other stations) WOFX (classic rock), WFTK (active rock), and WGRR (classic hits).

I agree that 100.7 is almost assuredly flipping to The Ticket.

94.1 is empty, with the exception of Duke FM in Lansing during tropo every once in a while. 102.7 is a mix of the Sandusky station and the Detroit Station, so both would be decent frequencies. 106.9 is another decent fit.

A classic rock/classic hits/active rock combo would be nice, but that will never happen.

I was actually going to mention this but yeah.. I'd say they probably won't do it because... it would make sense! The only small sliver of hope would be, for the fact the zone wasn't totally killed off. Meaning, this might be a bridge to that but if anything, they need to hang it up on Q, it doesn't work and it sucks.

Yes, because hearing Pop Evil or Greta Van Fleet every 15 minutes on 89x, or acoustic music for most of Sunday, was so much better lol

I glanced at the Ticket's social media real quick, doesn't say anything about them leaving 106.5 but that probably doesn't mean anything.

It mentioned that one of the shows are moving to 100.7 the zone. As far as 89x goes, I'd rather listen to that stuff then Queen or all crusty old scab rock as listed above. :x

102.7 WCPZ (satellite Hot AC) needs to be protected. Also need to protect 102.9 in AA, along with protecting 102.5 in Hudson-Hillsdale. With a good radio 102.7 can be received in Toiletto. We all know 102.9 is easily heard in Toiletto. 94.1 is listed as a license for Fusion Radio already (not sure how they got the frequency though). There are other 94.1's in NW Ohio, such as Find-A-Lay, and Napoleon.

Agreed about the Acoustic show that aired on 89X Sunday in middays. Horrible time slot. Should've aired at 9 in the morning, not Noon.

In its last couple years on the air, 89X did not do that great of a job mixing things up. Rarely heard a song that made me say "wow, sure is great to hear that tune on the radio again." Lazy programming on their part. That said, I doubt anything could've saved the station. Bell Media was hellbent on bringing two of its national brands to SW Ontario. 93.9 The River, unlike 89X, still had good ratings in Essex County, ON yet still received the ax.
