Goodbye Kristi Leigh
Re: Goodbye Kristi Leigh
No offense to WTOL, but they certainly have lost ALL of their eye candy on-air people in two years. I know the world has changed a lot in 20-30 years, but WTOL has a real rag-tag team on the weekends, lost weather chick Ellen Fritz, Jerry retired. They just don't have their 'professional' on-air look anymore. We looked like a top 25 market, not 72 for a long time, and it seems like WTOL isn't going out of market to bring in some high priced talent. Go way back, and when Jeff Heitz retired they brought in Bill Hormann from Baltimore (which was baptism by fire trying to replace a long long time on air main anchor, until Bill found a comfortable spot on WTVG). WTVG brought-in Patrick Greenlaugh from CNN when Jerry Anderson left WTVG; so both stations used to really go out of their way to get some top talent. WTOL had about 3 blue-eyed blondes as co-anchors (back when Marilou was young) and lost one of them (RIP) after she reported from China or something??
Anyhow, I suggest WTOL put their on-air talent in chairs so you don't have a 7 foot tall weatherman with a 5 foot tall female co anchor and an 6'6" female sports anchor- even Jeopardy has every one on elevated cushions to give a nice even head height.
So back to the original topic: Will WTOL actually spend some cash and go out and 'buy' an Ken and Barbie anchor team, or is local TV news already on the downward spiral where they won't spend the money, despite the news being their highest revenue commercial spots?

Just talked with somebody late last week, who also knows 13abc in LA. The one thing we had in common was that Sashem and Jeff look away from the camera. Not a professional thing to do. Relocate the clock to be in front of them. Truth be told, Diane Larson is the only "professional" looking talent, no matter how fake her smile is. I do not see any other staff looking major league.... news, field reporter or weather. Watch KCAL 9 news on Pluto TV... compare to Toledo. The lobster platter quickly becomes peanut butter and jelly.WOHO wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 9:53 amNo offense to WTOL, but they certainly have lost ALL of their eye candy on-air people in two years. Jeff and Sashem are the absolute worst. Do they ever go 2 minutes without giggling at something? Also, Jeff's hairpiece fools nobody.
I was no fan of Kristi except as eye candy but her leaving speaks volumes. Even Toledo lifers don't want to work in Toledo media anymore.
