Post by windsor » Sun Aug 04, 2019 8:52 pm

Was at the cottage near lake erie today and was listening to XKR and heard Bill Michaels talking about Grizzly having surgery and suffered a mild stroke

So sorry to hear that, always loved listening to the big guy on IOT and whenever I could catch him by the lake on XKR.

GET WELL SOON GRIZZLY !!!!!!

btw ....great job XKR on the double shots of Uncle Ted for his show tonight in T Town, it was nice to hear great white buffalo again on the airwaves.

He was at his best overnight on IOT. The block of metal he played at midnight every night was awesome.

One of the few good unique local personalities we have left. Hope he's well soon.

Grizzly was on TV, but his booming voice was down a notch. He's not on the air. The stroke doesn't appear to have affected his speech, but he had a walker and has lost about 50 lbs. He said medical bills could be close to $2 million dollars???
So nice of Cumulus to do something for him- NOT. Fund raiser was about $5K, so a start.
Truly the last of a dozen Toledo originals that you wanted to hear talk as much or more than the music.
His description of him installing his own ceiling fan was so damn funny I about had to pull over the car. I hope he can make it back on the air. One of the very, very, very few "must hear radio" people in T-Town at all. A shame when I was in high school you had to decide what station, and that included overnight guys from midnight to 6am that were live and crazy fun too.

I did weekend overnights on WXKE 104 in Ft Wayne around 85- 86. I had free range of anything in the library as long as it wasn't, as Doc West said, "too pop". It's the only shift I'd really want to do anymore. I've heard Grizzly many times over the years and he is a most enjoyable personality. I wish him the best.

That doesn't shock me at all. I'm surprised they even *pay* their employees to be honest.

Many thanks, WOHO, Windsor, and fuzzpower, for keeping us updated!

I'm very pleased to hear he's back on the air!!

WOHO - you said it best with this line:
One of the very, very, very few "must hear radio" people in T-Town at all.
I absolutely agree!

Alexis Wiley and Mike Duggan - together following in Hillary's footsteps!
