106.5 Toledo
Can one of the Christian broadcasters buy this station so it can be put out of its misery already?
I wanted to listen to the NBA finals game last night in the car and instead they were airing ESPN Radio's alternate feed, which was running a damn baseball podcast. 94.5 and 100.7 didn't have the hoops on either. It wouldn't be so bad except you tune in almost any night during basketball season and they have some random national NBA game no one really cares about around here on.

And the beat goes on.... They should honestly just donate it to CSN.
Re: 106.5 Toledo
Might as well move all the junk from 100.7 and simulcast it on 106.5, then it would be available 3 places if you include WQQO-HD2.
Re: 106.5 Toledo
As mentioned in an old thread, from about 6 months ago. an FM sports station COULD make it in Toledo. I'm not saying it has to be on a Coveted signal but there gonna have to do better then 106.5. 103.7 for example or even 107.7( worst case). I realize this isn't a major market but at least have 2 local day parts. Run a decent game that's of interest, not some obscure out town(or region) game no one cares about.
With pitiful 106.5 and 1230, i'm willing to bet to 97.1 from Detroit likely gets almost the same share or at least half as 106.5. Not that it matters but still, heck I remember back in the bad old days of Rock 106, 88.7 was actually beating them. I used to rip there ass's all the time, on one of the old boards.
In any sense, I predict 106.5 DOES go to a Christian broadcaster.

Re: 106.5 Toledo
89X has a much better signal into Toledo than 97.1, and virtually all other Detroit FMs, though.
It has to be a Christian broadcaster that buys 106.5, it gives a city grade signal to more cows than people. Move OSU football to XKR, hoops to 100.7. I guess they can put the Lions on 94.5 too, although with them being on WJR now Toledo doesn't even really need an affiliate.
I wouldn't call 1230 "pitiful", although their play-by-play coverage is kind of weak. They have a decent local morning show actually based here instead of someone on an ISDN line in suburban Cleveland reading high school stats off the Blade's website.

Re: 106.5 Toledo
1230 is pitiful because they have Fox Sports Radio. It’s one of the worst national sports networks. They need more than one local show.
Knowing Toledo, if 106.5 is sold, the new owners will either go country or rap.

Re: 106.5 Toledo
Oh yeah, Fox Sports Radio sucks, but one local show is better than 0, which is what 106.5 really has.
Re: 106.5 Toledo
1230 is hard to count,as a chuck of it's brokered program. So as far as sports radio in Toledo goes, talk about pathetic.

Re: 106.5 Toledo
Nah, really only the weekend stuff with Ragtime Rick and the Spanish programming is brokered anymore. The local morning weekday show is not, and of course most of the rest of the time during the week they just run FSR unless the Mud Hens, Walleye or Pistons are playing. It's not like 10-15 years ago when they'd air anyone who paid for airtime, no matter how bad or disjointed it sounded on air. I remember when they'd go from a freaking jazz show to Denny Schaffer to Jim Rome.
Re: 106.5 Toledo
Maybe it’s me, but I preferred CWA when it was disjointed. Fox Sports Radio is not good. The jazz show was interesting. The local brokered sports shows were rough, but at least they were local. Was somewhat like a full service station, minus news updates.

Re: 106.5 Toledo
No NBA Finals again on 106.5 Toledo. As I write this, that station just aired an ESPN Sportscenter update, followed by today's episode of "Baseball Tonight podcast." If 106.5 does get sold, wonder if 1230 will pick up any of ESPN Radio's play by play offerings, like Detroit's WDFN used to, maybe still does.

Re: 106.5 Toledo
106.5 is a clunker facility, that probably shouldn't have been built in the first place. The only place they could squeeze it in is out by the airport. That severely limits the height, which I believe is around 350'. The primary coverage area is largely wasted over cornfields. It cuts Toledo in half, from NW to SE, if you draw a line roughly from Swanton to Rossford. If I were the GM, I would have no idea what to put on this signal, other than some sort of "flanker" format, to annoy a competitor.

Re: 106.5 Toledo
The Zone should've never been dropped from 106.5; that brand drew decent ratings given 106.5's signal limitations.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
