106.5 Toledo

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

94.5 would likely be the new home for Lions and Tigers.

I know the Browns were on there from 2011-2012 until Cumulus dropped them. They also aired national games on there for a time too.
Cumulus-owned WLAV (with the same format as WXKR) has aired the national games (at least for the playoffs) the past few years

WMMQ in Lansing also airs football games.

I missed where the Tigers were mentioned going to 94.5. I'm not sure about that at all. You can get both WXKR and WMTR clearly where I live on the border of Springfield Twp. and Maumee, and as we learned from when the Ticket first was put on 106.5, 96.1 is pretty fiercely defensive of their rights. Plus you'd be breaking format 162 times a year + spring training, that's different than just doing it 16 Sundays for the Lions or fewer than that for OSU football. and, well, the Tigers suck now so there's not a big demand for them on the radio anyway.

I don't think the Tigers or Wings will be on Toledo airwaves soon.

Breaking format so often wouldn't be good for those who listen to 94.5 for just classic rock.

The NHL gives away radio audio for free on their website and apps now so the Wings don't need to have a big radio network anymore anyway. Norm Wamer used to make sure to put them on when he was PD of the Ticket, but when Andy Stuart fired him the Wings were one of the first things to go.

I thought the Wings were gone before Norm was fired. Like around 2013.

Anyways Delmarva is a Christian Broadcaster, utilizing all Christian typed formats. Just what Toledo needs- another Christian broadcaster!

88.9, 89.3, 98.7, 90.3, 92.1 and 1520, 96.9 with 103.3 and 104.1, 1560 and 99.5, 102.3, and lastly 730. Looks like lucky number 13 to me. Does Toledo need to hear about God that much? 13 stations is out of control! Over-saturated is an understatement!

I agree. I wish one of them was sold to a broadcaster who could put a niche format on there.

Holy Toledo, and don't forget 89.7 BG/Toledo. and a LPFM in BG on 97.7 too. Yeah a dozen religious stations in the Toledo market along with their 4 country signals is 10 too many.

I transposed that, making it "98.7" instead. And 97.7 and 105.9 are not in the metro.

So when does the deal close? it's been 2 months, so I would imagine soon. I got a feeling The Ticket, for what its worth, will wind up on 100.7fm. Not sure if they will keep ESPN or go with CBS sports, if they go that route.

...exactly what the hell would be the point of going back to CBS Sports Radio? They've been ESPN forever except for a couple of years when CBSSR was launched, and eventually enough people complained that they switched back to ESPN.

after seeing the latest ratings and the Zone not showing up at all I fear that you're right that it might not be long for this world, yet again.

I put it out there because, well.... ya never know. I did see on The Zone's FB page, that this was the final episode of "On The Radar" it could mean nothing but my gut's telling me The Ticket is going to 100.7. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but we shall see. It could be, The Zone gets axed and The Ticket gets Simulcasted on 100.7fm until the deal with Delmarva closes.

Btw, The Zone's Facebook Page Only has 887 Likes and it's pretty dead. https://www.facebook.com/1007TheZone

Biggest advantage ESPN Radio has over CBS Sports Radio is play-by-play rights. CBS Sports Radio has none, while ESPN Radio has MLB, NBA, limited rights to NFL games and college football (including the national championship game. If sports does go to 100.7 perhaps the Detroit Tigers would have a radio home in the city of Toledo, since 100.7 as an fm translator is weak enough not to be heard in most of 96.1 WMTR's listening area.

But the argument can be made that 96.1 is audible in Toledo, which it is.
