Time for some Toledo flips?

A place to go for those of you who wish to discuss happenings in OH, IN, IL, WI, and Ontario. OSU sucks, by the way.

Time for some Toledo flips?

Post by WOHO » Tue May 31, 2016 9:59 am

No flips over Memorial Day. The closest thing to a flip was "Channel 105.5" back on April Fools Day.
SPeeDy still doesn't advertise their translator on 92.1FM yet, do they?
Still love to see something worthwhile of the nice signal on 103.7 besides what is it/isn't.

Iheart just launched Translators for there AM News Talkers in a couple other markets. I can hardly get 92.1 here in Perrysburg as its over taken by 92.1 The Wolf and its off the air half the time anyhow. They ought to just use 94.9fm and be done with it.

103.7 is like Tower 98, the thing that wont die.

Thus far ESPN coming back to 106.5 really hasn't helped things, honestly they should consider moving it back to 1470 and pairing it up with 100.7. Something new for 106.5, Not the crusty old zone.

Thinking 98.3 might eventually revert back to AC.

That would be nice. What a waste of a nice little signal.

I say 94.9, 98.3 and 103.7 any of these 3 can change formats, that would be great.

Nash has been digging a little into K-100 so reverting back to AC is probably there only other option. If they save nash it could go to 100.7 but I kind of doubt it.

103.7, Varity hits format seems a like a good match.

94.9, I think they ought to just hang it up on 92.1 and just put Speedy on 94.9.

I think you should add 100.7 to your list Toledo radio died.

Well, not a flip at 105.5, but yet another rebranding. Sayonara Channel, hello Q105.5.

WWWM is now on 105.7fm in Eden Prairie MN, if your familiar with Twin Cities radio that's one of the infamous 105's. WWWM replaces WGVZ as the calls. On another signal the WRXP calls are parked on.

Now, Why didn't they just Move WLQR to 105.5? If the station was to be called "Q"? Maybe parked the WWWM calls over there. Only radio nerds 8o on here like us would even notice but just sayin. 105 is at a mid 3, so we will see if this does anything. 105.5 could go Urban AC to take on 95.7 or go active rock possibly. stayed tuned I suppose.

106.5 speaking of, is still at a solid 1 share. WTOD didn't even show up.

98.3 revert back to AC, would cut back on the country overload in that market.
K100's numbers would slowly creep back up.
@102.7 Brian FM: I think you should add 100.7 to your list Toledo radio died. :lol
@102.7 Brain FM: I would like to put Nash Icon in that died category also.
Awe cumulesss give up the WWWM calls:(. That's a piece of Toledo's history, I would have held on to the WWWM (3WM ROCKS BABY!!!) calls and put them back on 1470, then bring WLQR over to 105.5.
OMG!!! 105.5 Rebranding again, why didn't they call it Q105.5 in the first place?
Hey Toledo's 3rd Q station :lol. 1985?-1991 93Q WRQN Bowling Green/Toledo, 2003-2004 Q96.9 WXQQ Wauseon/QQQQQoledo and now ladies and gentlemen, 2016-Current day Q105.5 WQQO Sylvania/Toledo.

Yeah.. WLQR to 105.5, WWWM to 106.5. Sounds logical to me. Q is sort of a versatile name, WWWM might re-appear on another station again as WTOD did.

I still can't believe that the Dickey brothers didn't keep their dad's callsign on 1470 - WOHO, but merged it with '3WM', then used the old WLQR callsign, and in a smart move revived the WTOD call, which ironically, Bob Kelly was on, yet didn't keep WOHO or keep 3WM? As suggested, it would have made sense to simply move WLQR to 105.5 and WWWM to 106.5 - but apparently that never occurred to them.

The translator on 92.9 is much stronger than the one on 92.1 - WSPD should try to swap translators- or as suggested, use 94.9, especially if 94.9 isn't on the ratings radar at all.
I believe that a translator is in the works for WCWA as well.

92.9 sounds awful with the rebroadcast of Urban family talk, which was on 104.1 for a time. I think CWA might wind up on 104.1.

and in a smart move revived the WTOD call
It won't help their ratings or revenue one iota.

MEMO TO 89-EX: FIX YOUR SHITTY SOUNDING AUDIO!! WE CAN HARDLY HEAR THE FRIGGIN' STATION! Thanks in advance.

This is so ridiculous, that I am mystified. I am not buying Andy's explanation. What I think happened is Cumulus HQ got a letter from I-Heart HQ about the use of the word "Channel". In any event, having not two, but three "Q" stations in the same cluster is asking for trouble. A bit of history, for you youngsters... the WWWM calls originated in Cleveland. It was "M105" and was an AOR station. Mike McVay worked for Larry Robinson, who owned the station, and flipped it to the "Magic" moniker. It was McVay, as a consultant, who convinced Lew Dickey, Sr to use the WWWM calls in Toledo, when AOR WXEZ Z-105 flipped to AC. 3WM used the "Magic" moniker for awhile as well. (WOHO, feel free to correct or fill in any details that I may have missed).
