Good for them. Always like seeing positive news for local radio.
50 watts at less than 200 feet probably won't go far, maybe barely across the border, but it ought to cover their local area well.

Always interesting to see a grassroots station form. I wonder how far the signal will go.

There are strict Aeronautical limits in Canada on 107.9.

Yes, unfortunately, they have jammed up 107.9 in that area, including the translator for WDTW 1310.

WCRZ receives observable objectionable interference within its 54 dBu protected service area, like WIOT did. The WCRZ corporate engineer at the time, in my opinion, wasn't proactive enough, like Denny Moon was at WIOT. He lived in California.

The contour on the FCCdata.com map is mislabeled. It is the 60 dBu, not the 54 dBu protected contour. The detailed maps there are 70, 60, 50, and 40 dBu. You can interpolate roughly to determine where the 54 dBu contour is.

I think that corporations that own huqe station groups should have local Chief Engineers with enough clout, like WIOT did, to do something about it.

The FM dial is too crowded as it is. Granted, there’s next to no chance I’ll pick this up under normal conditions unless I go to Grosse Ile.

Water Tower near Alma St. and Thomas Rd. About a little over a mile from the Detroit River, and perhaps two miles from US land in the River.

107.9 I think is a LPFM station for Temperance MI HS, surprising as 108.1MHz is in use at TOL edo Express Airport. Local radio is good, 50W, 100W, plus a web feed.
