Wow, the existing configuration sure didn't last long! Wasn't Cadillac added just a couple years ago?

I'm a little surprised Benzie is being dropped given its relatively close proximity to Traverse City.
Clearly the amount of daily commuter traffic from Benzie to TC is far greater than it would be from the northern counties. In fact, I imagine daily commuter traffic is greater from Benzie into TC, than say Cheboygan or Gaylord into Petoskey. But the subscribers desperately need those areas, and not Benzie, as it doesn't play into the signal strengths. Wexford, Manistee and Benzie Counties work well for Midwestern (in particular WTCM-FM), but they're no longer subscribing. Cinderella's sisters have other plans for the market.
I'm also surprised by the removal of Benzie County, since Black Diamond's 95.5 and 98.1 put a city grade signal over a lot of that county. Manistee County should've never been added in the first place, as only about four TC market signals get much if any listenership (Midwestern's 92.9 and 103.5 as well as the two aforementioned Black Diamond stations)

Today(10-1) here in Traverse,WJNL's translator 101.1was dead air all day,1110 WJML was regular programming and interestingly,AM 1210 WJNL was simulcasting 101.1 WGRY out of Grayling with the CBS sports radio network.
In Traverse during the last few days:
translator At 101.1 off air, replaced by a very weak WGRY.

AM 1210 once again is simulcasting WGRY.

AM 1110 airing WJML's regular programming.

And for what it is worth the q 100 stations are now displayed on the WJML deals website.

Happy days are here again,at least sort of.
The 101.1 translator is back on the air and along with AM 1210 is rebroadcasting WJML.Problem is the audio is very distorted.

Not sure how long this has been going on, but 1110 has been simulcasting WGRY-FM the last few times I've tuned in. Is it possible 1110 boosted their power, too? I normally don't get 1110 very well in East Jordan (even though I should) but this weekend it was coming in quite strong.

I don't know the details, but an engineer has been working on the antenna system at WJML. Cleaning and rebuilding the buildings at each tower and clearing trees from the ground system. This simple cleaning could be the reason it's coming in better now!

In case you missed it, the front half of the WJML Building has been removed because the roof leaked and resulting problems. When I made a short side trip form Atkins Rd. and Division Rd., I saw that it was all torn up and at first I assumed it was vandalism and/or Cu harvesting.

Aside from the "American Graffiti" type historical attraction from the WJML heyday, from the famous Chicago Harrington Broadcasting family, to Bob and Tom and beyond, they probably ought to step up security.

Meanwhile, this may be the last photograph of the Historic WJML Studio Building, taken in December. The front half was torn down recently.

It looks pretty bad now. Makes the remaining WTRX building look good by comparison.

Does anyone but vintage hobbyists care about 20th ranked stations like this?

Perhaps not very many, but there are radio historians who scavenge such sites and traffic in the memorabilia. Cleveland apparently had a bunch of abandoned studios and transmitter buildings like this that attracted such scavengers. Vinyl records, test equipment, old studio and transmitter equipment and parts, old station record surveys, mugs, and other types of memorabilia are some of the items found. But you have to remember that WJML's building is still in use for two transmitters, so that is more important to protect. If I see evidence of vandalism or other strange things, I will at least ask someone who knows about it what's going on.

You still haven't fixed the image not displaying in your original post on the subject. You're not up to a thousand words yet.

As of this posting, both 1110 and 1210 completely off air,FM translator 101.1 rebroadcasting 97.1 out of Detroit.

Yesterday,translator 101.1 was airing WJML's regular programming.

I did notice that 1110 was only rebroadcasting WGRY during Tigers games. I've also noticed 1110 goes silent now and then. As unreliable as they are, I can't imagine they have many regular listeners.

Word very strongly has it that WJML's AM 1110,AM1210,and 101.1 in Traverse City will soon be switching over to an all sports format.

Makes sense given the demise of ESPN 106.7/105.5 and AM 1310's format switch to classic country.

Nonetheless, I still suspect these stations will have long bouts of being off the air due to equipment failures and Mickey Mouse ownership.

Sports has never broken a one share in Northern Michigan. It's free and easy to manage and you can always talk someone into sponsoring the Lions.
