Does WKAD still air the Tigers? They should be able to be picked up in parts of TC, albeit weaklyBirdieKingBobo wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 6:29 amIt's sad that the Tigers don't even have a terrestrial radio station in Traverse City.....

Carrying the Tigers will not move the needle on any station up north. The Tigers were always on 580 WTCM. How long ago did they stop carrying the Tigers?
Whoever buys WJML will have to deal with Roy in perpetuity, thanks to deal he made with Rick Stone for AM 750. Stone must have wanted 1210 in Kingsley really bad.

FWIW,as of this writing,WLDR is still airing regular programming with reduced power..And 99.3, 92.3 are both broadcasting with an open carrier.

If nothing else, Roy is consistent

Right at the beginning of summer, turn the stations off. Brilliant.

You ask a good question. My point about Roy is that whenever he seems to "go dark" with these signals, it's usually prior to, or right in the middle of, the potentially highest billing months of the year. That makes no sense whatsoever. If I had to guess, he's been living large in Grand Rapids, off of the proceeds from the sale of his house on Lake Conroe, and the cash is running out. Just a guess, of courseTC Talks wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 9:21 pmWho's going to sell ads?Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 9:10 pmIf nothing else, Roy is consistent![]()

Running a dead carrier is against FCC regs. Not allowed.
I wonder how many EAS tests or activations we're missed? Wouldn't be too hard for someone to start keeping track of stuff like that. Hell, if I were up there, I'd do it...for laughs.

In 2003 arguably the best sales team in the area was under his roof. Then he started to "adjust" things. It was an excellent plan that executed so poorly, they should study it at the Comm school at MSU.

All they really have to do is run an hour long digital "mix tape" including the TOH ID. That's what a lot of them have been doing.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 9:49 pmRunning a dead carrier is against FCC regs. Not allowed.

Is that around the time that they poached Ryan Dobry from WTCM, only for most of her listenership to stick with WTCM and Carey Carlson?

Someone should notify the folks over at Black Diamond Broadcasting of this.95.1 95.3 and 98.1 have been airing an open carrier for at least the last four hours.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 9:49 pmRunning a dead carrier is against FCC regs. Not allowed

For something to be actionable, it has to be "willful and repeated".

I'd like to say I'm surprised. But I can't. Seems almost everyone is airing open carriers now for one reason or another. I think most of them are technical issues though.

Using the internet for your STL instead of microwave is usually the culprit.organman95 wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 8:32 pmI'd like to say I'm surprised. But I can't. Seems almost everyone is airing open carriers now for one reason or another. I think most of them are technical issues though.
