Re: 101.9 wldr
The latest is now: that Blarney Stone has entered into another LMA with 106.3 WWMN and the WJML cluster. Their third LMA in less than two years. On their Facebook page, they have announced the switch for their Detroit Lions Broadcast.
Re: 101.9 wldr
Could it be a merger of some kind? It's a good thing 98.1 has the Lions as 106.3's signal is BAD. I wonder how both 98.1 and 101.9 got the Lions in the first place, unless 98.1 is officially the Manistee area affiliatenorthradiotruth wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 9:40 pmThe latest is now: that Blarney Stone has entered into another LMA with 106.3 WWMN and the WJML cluster. It would actually only be their second LMA; the first one (with Northern) never took effect AFAIK
Re: 101.9 wldr
It is Blarney Stone’s THIRD LMA. Their first LMA was with Northern Broadcasting (when their initial purchase effort failed due to funding issues with Northern).ftballfan wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 11:00 pmCould it be a merger of some kind? Maybe the third time LMA is a charm.
Re: 101.9 wldr
Are you sure they have entered into a new LMA?Maybe they just worked out a temp. agreement for WWMN to air the games while LDR is off.

Re: 101.9 wldr
It's obvious they've been kicked off the premises of 101.9, et al. That LMA is toast unless they are able to make some sort of successful legal appeal (doubtful).I really think Blarney Stone is done. No updates since Oct 27 on any platform. Finster has gone silent.
Reminds me of the situation in San Diego earlier this year involving 105.7 FM.
I listened to 101.9 online a few months ago. The only ads I heard were for Grayling & Gaylord area businesses, which makes one wonder if those businesses even paid a dime to have their spots carried on 101.9 (they clearly were buying 100.3).
Know who could do something good with 101.9? MacGar. Would love to see 104.5 Bob-FM transplanted from its current puny Class A signal to 101.9's blowtorch. Black Diamond is another company that could probably put that stick to valuable use. How about a 101.9 / 102.9 simulcast? Or - moving The Bear from 98.1 to 101.9?
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

Re: 101.9 wldr
I think both MacGar and Black Diamond would have to spin off one of their existing sticks to get 101.9. By the end of 2020, I feel that 101.9 will be one of the following: IPR News, a relocated Bob FM, a relocation of one of BD's Glen Arbor sticks, or a simulcast of Big Country (there are portions of the TC area that can only get one country station)MWmetalhead wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 6:41 amIt's obvious they've been kicked off the premises of 101.9, et al. Re: 101.9 wldr
104.5 is owned by the kids trust fund not by Macgarb. There is plenty of capacity in that company. I would pay just about anything to see Trish and Roy Henderson in a room negotiating. That could be pay-per-view.ftballfan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:24 pmI think both MacGar and Black Diamond would have to spin off one of their existing sticks to get 101.9. Re: 101.9 wldr
I don't see Roy selling unless he is forced to and the smart owners in the area know that a lot of money would be needed to get 101.9 where it needs to be and get the listeners to realize it is there. Trish may be the only one willing to try it but TC Talks I would bet a third party would have to be involved in negotiations.

Re: 101.9 wldr
MacGar is done, due to dwindling resources from here to Colorado.
Re: 101.9 wldr
My guess is that they simply stopped the LMA payments because the stations are often off the air or running really low power, or running illegally like the pirate in Traverse City. I heard (hearsay) that in the past that he wouldn't pay tower rent, and that is why the stations are in such technical disarray, from the duct tape and baling wire STAs necessary to stay licensed.
You would think that if he just took the money spent on lawyers, engineering consulting fees, and FCC filing fees, often on complex schemes that take forever to win, if they ever do, like the C1 pipe dreams, and used it to run the stations, and built out the CPs he had and let expire, he'd have a decent cluster. Look at some of the AM FM translators like WNWZ AM and translator and WRME-LP and KROC AM and translator doing better than much more poweful and traditional FMs, and you'll see.
Unless a station can relocate to the ridge West of Traverse City that WLDR is on, there is really not much point in relocation. Anything West of there is shadowed and iffy. Combined with some well placed and powered boosters (translator opportunities are just about maxed out), some of the stations could do better.
What is the deal with MacDonald Garber, NMCSpeaks? I hear that about nearly all group owners, though, especially large group owners with hundreds of stations.

Re: 101.9 wldr
WLDR's tower was foreclosed and sold a few years ago. It was held by the county land bank.
I honestly don't know many business owners who use radio to advertise. In Colorado, the climate has never been good.
Very few local stations offer the ability to reach people under 50 years old. Revenues reflect the lack of advertiser results.

Re: 101.9 wldr
So you're saying stations in Colorado are limons?
Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!
Re: 101.9 wldr
And who bought the tower? It would appear to be Blarney Stone.TC Talks wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 7:20 amWLDR's tower was foreclosed and sold a few years ago. It was held by the county land bank.
