There's probably an I-94 bumper or window sticker somewhere in my archives, but who knows how long it will take me to find it. Typical interstate highway shield logo, seems like "I-94" leaned a bit to the right, for emphasis, maybe...
But 1985? Wasn't WIBM already using 94Gold in '85? Colonel Flagg arrived at WJIM in 1985, and that's what I remember.
Calvert Deforest? What do you think?

Will this do? It's from 1981, but it looks like what you have described. From ARSA, from 1981.

Great looking logo, but that sure is a mediocre chart. I can see why they eventually flipped to oldies. For awhile, they mopped the floor with us at WFMK with the oldies format. Stole our morning man, too.

It was "94 Gold" when they stole morning man David J Bennett away from us at WFMK. Hard to believe, those were the good 'ol days... we just didn't know it.

I'm not sure why it doesn't show. Maybe you need to have an account for ARSA.

The chart looks quite typical of Top 40 from that era. Kind of "Chicken Rock". Harder Rock listeners had mainly migrated to AOR stations.Colonel Flagg wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 9:10 pmGreat looking logo, but that sure is a mediocre chart. Nope - it's because the site isn't secure (http vs. https), and some browsers won't even take you there if it isn't.
Here's the URL used in BZ's post: http://www.las-solanas.com/surveys/WIBM ... 1-02_1.jpg
Here's the same image file, uploaded to imgbb.com (which is secure)...

Top 40 in that era was either "Rock 40" (see: WLS, CHUM) or "Hot AC" (see: CKLW). 1981 is considered one of the "doldrums" periods for Top 40 and it's fairly easy to see why. It really wasn't until late '82 or '83 that "all the hits" became a viable position again. I would consider that playlist solidly Adult Contemporary, though. I know WIBM was an AC reporter to the Gavin Report by 1985.
