National Anthem (WNEM)

Post by matt1 » Wed Jul 12, 2023 11:18 pm

After the CBS Morning News is over (with anchor Anne Marie Green) at 4:29 AM, WNEM 5 plays the National Anthem "The Star Spangled Banner" when a lady is singing. Then "Wake Up" news starts at 4:30 AM. :o

Fascinating.
Voting for Trump is dumber than playing Russian Roulette with fully loaded chambers.

WSGW plays the anthem @ noon every day. Side note: I can't imagine being awake @ 4:29am! lol

It’s a gimmick from GM Ken. It won’t do anything to bring a single new viewer to their newscasts.

Many station groups have started to play the SSB as a token of patriotic pride. But while conservatives have lauded the stations for restoring the practice, many of them play the SSB before the early morning local news starts (often at 4:30AM, when most people are still asleep).

That being said, when stations still left the air for the night, the middle of the night was when they played the SSB, often as the very last "program" before they cut the transmitter.

Nexstar does it at 3:59AM on WXSP, Wood TV & WOTV in West Michigan. The reason I know when the National Anthem is played at 3:59AM is that I have the TV on all night sometimes I'll listen to it or flip the channel to FS1 a minute or 2 before it is aired on WXSP or I sleep right through it and wake up when Sharri is on and flip the channel. I'm surprised that Sinclair doesn't air the National Anthem in the early morning hours like some TV station groups do.

All Nexstar stations air the National Anthem.

I'd stay up to 4.30 if they ran the SCTV anthems.
