Mid-Michigan radio/tv stationreception

Post by fairbankshockeypuck » Thu Jul 06, 2023 8:31 am

Just moved back from Alaska to Michigan....Hemlock area...Can't wait til put up out door antenna to see how many digital tv signals I get..Wondering if Lansing and Cadillac are possible...41 with cheep indoor so far

Love to AM DX too...it gets dark here early..compared to Alaska summers..Question is 1490 WMPX dark??? I see 97-7 and 107-7 translator simulcast
I notice from years ago...like 40 ...that 790 WSGW has a much stronger night time signal

FM...lots of signals and even had Detroit pop in from time to time :blink ...106.7 and 97-1 sports the ticket

Wide open here...Gonna be fun to check out signals with not much interference....

I am West of M13 near Chesaning, and 6/53 from Lansing is a blowtorch of a signal.
I use an amplified wall antenna and those are the only Lansing stations I get clear.
23 is spotty and pixelated often.

Welcome back to Michigan.

I was a Muskegon Lumberjacks fan then.

12/49/66 analog always came in well in Lansing also. Not sure if the digital signals are good. After being forbidden from locating the tower near Clarkston and serving the Detroit Area, they moved the proposed site of WJRT 12 ABC to near Chesaning, so it was the ABC affiliate for Lansing for decades, as WJIM 6 was the official CBS affiliate for Flint. WKNX-TV 25, CBS then, only really served the Tri Cities from Treanor St., but WWTV 9 was the most dominant CBS signal in Midland. Then WEYI 25 moved to Willard Rd., and WLAJ 53 ABC started in the Lansing Jackson area from the Onandaga area.
"I had a job for a while as an announcer at WWV but I finally quit, because I couldn't stand the hours."
