I heard some derogatory meanings for WHLS.
WHST isn't much better in that regard.
Are they religious stations? Because that would make it that much funnier.
WHST 106.1 was Northern Christian Radio's repeater of WPHN until they sold it to the WKJC folks in Tawas City.

The WHST call letters went back to when they were on 107.3 and a simulcast of 107.7 The Bay (at the time both stations went by "Bay 108" ). I assume WHST was chosen to be close to the letters WHSB.

WHST has been on the air for about 2 months now.WLEw-AM is a station I at times listen to on the tune in radio app.

A story about WLEW,back in the mid 1950's my mom,who attended Our Lady Of the Lake High School in Harbor Beach, anomisilly dedicated a love song between two of her class mates who were not very fond of one another in which that station played. She said that got laughs at her School for many weeks.

Was up in Oscoda today and hit the scan button. It stopped on 94.1 and even picked up RDS. The car I was driving didn’t even pick up Z93 on scan

If there are terrain issues over land, and not essentially over flat water "terrain", the path over land will attenuate the signal much more than over water. Were you in a car and it repeatedly skipped WKQZ? And what would happen if you went uphill and inland a few miles? If you are talking about driving on US 23 close to Lake Huron, that is typical of those situations.

Other call letters to avoid:

WBBC
WSTD
WFUK
WSMD
WBBW
WCUK
WBBC existed in Michigan on 1330 AM in Flint prior to 1960, and later on 94.1 FM in Jackson until maybe 1973 or '74. Both were Booth Broadcasting Company stations when they had those calls, making them both sister stations of WJLB in Detroit. Ernie Durham worked at Flint's WBBC at the same time he worked at WJLB in the late '50s and had to do a daily commute between the two cities to do his shows. Bob Eastman bought the station in 1960 and changed it to WTRX with Top 40 and later a pioneering Hot AC-type format.
And the WBBC calls exist today in Blackstone, VA.

WBBW also exists in Youngstown, OH, and WSMD in Mechanicsville, MD.

After flipping to a Spanish language format in the '80s, KKHJ in L.A. was able to get the three-letter KHJ call letters back because when "KKHJ" is pronounced in Spanish, the first two letters sound out "caca."

Did you try going inland a few miles?

Subtract 5 dB from WLEW because WHST is 15 kW and not 50 kW. On the same tower, but they don't have an L-R Map for WHST yet.

Try driving a few miles North of East Tawas and see if WKQZ stops the scan.

Is that the same Booth Broadcasting that used to own K100 in Toledo prior to Cumulus owning it?

I bet lesbians don't find it derogatory, I bet they find it hot.

I bet this has a hard null to the east and south to protect 93.9 in Mio.

Actually, it's fully spaced to WAVC 93.9 Mio. It's slightly short spaced to WWDK 94.1 Jackson, MI and to CKNR 94.1 Little Current, ON. Considering that WHST 94.1 is Class C3 in the US and not Class B1 to Canada as in the international agreement, there is no interference overlap. Lake Huron overlap and overlap over Lake Huron, even on the Canadian side, would be exempted though. It would be close to a consideration to Class C1 CIDR 93.9 Windsor, ON. CIDR would normally have to be considered as a full Class C1, 100 kW from 300 meters HAAT. I remember in my preliminary study for 93.7 Frankenmuth, MI which is Class A, there was a similar situaion, it was close to overlapping. I'd have to do a study of that situation to see how much it clears. I can find no distance separation study in the WHST application as a Class C3, B1 to Canada.
