The usual agro between broadcast and cable. CBS Channel 6 is running ads complaining about Comcast threatening to drop them. Nothing on CBS Ch 5 about this, so it just may be local, but I guess it's that time of year.
Unless it cuts into their cable fees, why don't these stations do spots about DIY OTA antennas?
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 12 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Comcast vs. Ch 6
Re: Comcast vs. Ch 6
Because that would cost WLNS money. WLNS gets retransmission fees from the cable companies, as do all OTA stations that are carried on a cable outlet. The more people that want cable with local channels included, the more WLNS can get for their signal. That's why you see the scrolls that urge you to contact Comcast and demand they continue to carry WLNS.
Re: Comcast vs. Ch 6
It’s a pissing match between WLNS’s parent company, Nexstar, and Comcast. WNEM is owned by Gray, which has a retrans agreement with the cable provider.
No one ever wants to pay more, but the current ad supported model of commercial TV is broken. Cable and satellite companies don’t want to pay for retrans. More people are cutting the cord which means even less retrans money. Big tech companies like Meta/Facebook and Google are taking a majority share of ad revenue away from local newspapers and TV stations. That’s why you’re seeing lots of layoffs at local TV stations.
