Culture starts at the top

When the owner of your company doesn’t give a flip about ethics and donates to campaigns that your stations cover…

When your company openly violates the laws governing your industry and receives millions of dollars in fines…

And it uses dubious means of naming sidecar companies like Howard Stirk Holdings/Armstrong Williams and Cunningham to get around FCC ownership rules…

When your company is sued for age, racial, disability and gender discrimination…

And your company is sued for illegal price fixing trying to drive up commercial as costs…

When your company forces its political agenda in “must run” stories into local newscasts and websites…

When your company hires former Trump administration officials who are part of the ongoing investigation into the January 6th insurrection…

And then it asks its stations to not run national network news reports on Congressional hearings…

When your company’s CEO openly supports the philosophy that the degrading political discourse is good for business…

When a study blasts the political bias and national agenda driven focus that your company has on its local newscast broadcasts…

When your company fails to protect your employees information from cyber security attacks…

https://www.npr.org/2021/10/18/10470712 ... are-attack

When your company only hires sales people to run your stations with a sole focus on reducing operational costs and increasing profit margins over the quality of your local broadcasts…

https://www.tvtechnology.com/news/sincl ... flint-mich

When during the pandemic your company lays off thousands of people, cuts back on benefits, and limits pay raises to 1% despite rising inflation…

https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/03/media/si ... index.html

When your company puts profits over people…

https://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/n ... nings.html

When your company becomes the laughing stock of the broadcasting industry…

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GvtNyOzGogc

And it’s owner is caught soliciting sex from a hooker…

That’s why you get disgruntled employees who are leaving your stations in droves. A good company culture starts at the top with its leaders valuing its employees.

Unbelievable. I heard the new owners of abc12 are bad too. What about the owners of channel 5

Gray Television— which used to own ABC 12 — now owns WNEM. They are the best corporate owners in town currently. They don’t have the baggage that Sinclair has — Gray’s not cheap and better organized than Byron Allen Media. We miss Gray, but we were glad when they took Pete Veto with them.

After watching ABC12’s news product decline since Byron Allen bought the station, I truly wish that he’d sell the station to a media group who would give a damn

Let’s be clear… all these mega media conglomerates are killing their local stations. Here’s the latest salary report from Syracuse University that says journalists — who are already paid like crap — continue to lose ground in pay:

“The latest RTDNA/Newhouse School at Syracuse University Survey found local television news salaries rose just 1.1% in 2021. That’s down sharply from the 3.5% growth in 2020. Adjusted for inflation, salaries actually fell 5.9% in terms of real wages. More than 85% of TV news directors said they found it harder to recruit people this past year.”

Another example of how Sinclair only hires the “very best” people!

Former Sinclair commentator/rocks in mouth Boris Epshteyn was arrested for groping women:

Of course you won’t find this story on Mid-Michigan now.com or any other Sinclair website. #SinclairCoverup
