Local podcasts

Post by Under New Management » Sun May 29, 2022 10:11 am

Looking for recommendations for good, local podcasts.

Here’s one from a local sports reporter who has done episodes on the rivalry between Saginaw High vs Arthur Hill… student athletes from Oxford High battling back after the deadly school shooting… and the toxic environment faced by journalists in modern TV newsrooms these days.

Check it out here:

Share other good local podcasts so we can support local journalists.

Podcasts are wonderful and there are some good ones out there, but wasn't he a photographer and not a sports reporter?

Duff Tyler was a sports anchor and reporter in Indiana before coming to WEYI where he was initially hired as a photographer/editor. He left after station management didn’t follow thru on their promise to promote him to a fulltime sports position.

Ryan Slocum was the Sports Director at ABC 12 before leaving in 2019. He now works at the Stste Champs network.

Both are great guys. Hard workers. Very knowledgeable about the local sports scene. Ryan was won numerous awards for his anchoring and reporting.

Ryan Slocum is a sports reporter, and a good one. You also never mentioned him in your first post so I am not sure why he is relevant unless you are comparing Duff to Ryan, and that is a stretch.
It is pretty obvious this is Duff trying for some free advertisement.
While I agree WEYI had and still has a laundry list of problems, there is/was zero evidence they would or should have promoted you.

Hello Duff! Welcome to the forums!

Dropping knowledge on forum MAGAts.
Unapologetically intellectually superior.

Podcasters are more entertainers than journalists, stink liar.

What's more pathetic: harassing an old man who is paying to do a radio show or supporting a grifter like Trump?

Have to give Duff credit because of his new call-in sports show. On Thursday, Duff interviewed the New Lothrop football coach live about one of his players having a seizure during their game. The player - who is also the team captain - had to be taken to the hospital and the team rallied to win. It was a very emotional interview.
Since then, Duff has updated the kid's condition on social media. Neither the local stations nor MLive had this story.
What do you think of journalistic skills now?

That abc12 reporter is trying to be an influencer on YouTube. Check her out.
