Props to whoever put this together.

Jay was a great reporter and rightfully critical of his old business. He recently called out Blake Keller (not by name) on Facebook for doing snow angels live on air while reporting conditions. The “old school” guys like Brandow seem harder and harder to come by. RIP and a job well done sir!

Jay Brandow was a disc jockey at WRIF in the 1970's. He was a nice guy, condolences to his family.

Re: Former WNEM Jay Brandow dies
To quote the 1980 101 WRIF Concert Guide listing for Jay: "When he was only 10 years old Jay Brandow heard the old men in his father's bar talking about the lives they wished they had lived, and decided then he would never leave room for regrets like that. Since then he's lived in a dozen places across the state and tried as many jobs. He found life most exciting around the international docks where he was once a crew hand, but he's also been a lab technician, a 'shop rat' and the manager of a record store - when he was still in his teens. He's pulled down music shifts at all hours on radio stations in Bay City, Saginaw and Flint before coming to WRIF in 1974. Ever since then he's been putting the music together with an occasional practical joke on Arthur Penhallow, usually - or the jocks who work mornings. Although his more inventive practical jokes cannot be printed here, he's promised all a peek at his memoirs-in-progress before 1985, when, he claims, he's going to open a bar and entertain the old men with some good music and a few stories of his own."
RIP, Jay. You lived your life well.
