An interesting experiment happening in Australia where Facebook, Google and other big tech companies now must pay newspapers, TV stations and other journalism organizations to redistribute news content that appear on their social media platforms.

It’s a measure aimed at stemming the decline of local journalism. At a time when we are facing layoffs while Google, Facebook, Twitter are seeing record profits, this proposal being considered by Congress might help even the playing field and follows the same retransmission consent model that is currently in place for cable stations who air local TV stations.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through May 12 at 7:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Big Tech paying for news
Re: Big Tech paying for news
Google now is paying Fox News for content now. Sinclair hasn't told FB, Google & Twitter to show them the money along with Nexstar, Meredith, Hearst, Scripps, etc. All of them should tell big tech to show them the money.
