It’s no grilled cheese and tomato soup party, but 25-66’s former GM/egomaniac in chief Chad Conklin has taken his rein of terror on the road. The self professed good guy who’s been known to excessively pat himself on the back is known to blindly follow corporate mandates. So while his former Flint station was going through the purge, Conklin was planning to have heads roll in Seattle as well. He said Flint didn’t need a daily sports reporter in our newscasts. Now Conklin says Seattle only needs one sports anchor, despite being home to major professional sports franchises.

It’s just sad that when the pink slip express landed in Seattle that Conklin and his H*** ego and equally H*** paycheck weren’t furloughed. I guess it’s true in Sinclair you are promoted to your highest level of incompetence.

A market like Seattle should have more than 1 just one person working the sports department at KOMO you can't be at 2 places at one time that is a lot of duty for the sports anchor and the photog as well. KOMO should do sickout as they did in WJLA and should sweep across all the Sinclair TV stations around the country.

This tells you everything you need to know about Sinclair Broadcasting...

https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2021/ ... er-layoffs

It’s bad enough that Sinclair lays off many good people for no other reason than greed... to increase its profit margins. Now it wants to enforce non-competes to prevent workers like ex-morning anchor Rachelle Spence from getting a new job. As they were being escorted out of the conference room, they were told this was just “a business decision” and not a reflection of any performance issues (AKA the employees were making too much money or their jobs could be handled by other already overworked colleagues).

This is again one of the many reasons why Sinclair and 25-66 is one of the worst companies in America. Why would Sinclair block people from getting new jobs if it made the decision to lay off these workers? It is the ultimate display of tone deafness... and our local managers (the shipped in from out of town Sinclair GM and the In Over Her Head News Director) are complicit.

My suggestion is to test Sinclair’s resolve on its no-compete clause. Are they really willing to spend the money on attorneys to enforce a clause that could ultimately be nullified by a judge or jury? If you’re looking for a good employment attorney in Flint, reach out to Gregory Gibbs.

He’s had lots of recent experience with Sinclair lawyers battling unfair terminations.

Or Tom Pabst... not only does he fight local broadcasters, but he can get you a nice paycheck for management’s unlawful decisions.

I will guarantee you that Ring of Honor will end up on the RSN’s.

It's more corporate bs, just like the government. Make people have to live off 'the system.' Sinclair is right up there with the worst of them in DC

I think those that got layoff at Sinclair should sue since it was Sinclair that broke the contract and that Sinclair layoff the reporters & anchors they can sign and go across the street to sign with the rival Rachelle Spence should be able to sign with TV5 Meredith or TV12 Gray in Flint.

Format This Sinclair airs Ring Of Honor Fridays at 12AM kinda surprise they don't air it throughout the week at different hours of the day/night.

Master: the Sinclair boilerplate contracts are so incredibly one sided. They allow the company to let employees go for any reason, usually with 30-days notice.

But I doubt most juries or judges would enforce a non-compete clause if their employment was terminated for no cause.

Don't forget, Michigan is an at-will employment state.
