Fall 2020 Nielsen ratings - terrible numbers for WHNN!

Post by MWmetalhead » Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:58 am

I guess All Christmas music isn't "all that" anymore.

Very lousy book for WHNN! One of their worst ever in ages 12+.

The unusually strong performance of WSGW-FM continued.

I know they don't subscribe, but curious how KCQ 98.1 stacks up overall and also against CEN in country. How the BAY.1400.92.3 are doing....does 1250 ME TV Radio even show up on the radar and UPS with its nice signal garning some pretty decent numbers... WJR used to get recognition but looks like that boat has long sailed away....as has AM radio

I’ve often wondered, given WHNN’s continued falling ratings, if Cumulus has ever considered flipping WHEELZ 104.5’s classic rock format on 96.1 and put AC on 104.5. Only downside is that with that much power wattage boost, it would probably cannibalize Z93

Classic Rock on 96.1 would've been very nice, but I think programming AC on 104.5 would've been a dud. There is no other format out there that would generate ratings anything near what Wheelz generates at 104.5 MHz.

There's also the question of whether or not Cumulus agreed to a non-compete when it unloaded 103.9 WRSR.

A station that adds (in this case, re-adds) a syndicated program doesn't typically change locations or formats very soon afterwards, does it?

Only because after several years away, WHNN's brought Casey back. And notably, it's the 80s this time, which means that show gets double coverage for areas that get Cars 108 (where he's still on Saturday nights at 8:00): https://www.facebook.com/My961/photos/a ... =3&theater

What were WHNN's ratings like before firing Johnny, Blondie, and Bob Hughes?

IIRC, 12+ demo they were averaging a 10-11 share and were number 1 in the market
