Media Conglomerates about to get Bigger

The Supreme Court is hearing a case that could further relax media ownership rules...

That means big media companies like Sinclair and Nexstar could get even larger. If the justices relax these standards, I’m not sure more mega broadcasters will result in better journalism, in more minority and women ownership, or more investment in local stations and local communities.

I’m also not sure that keeping the status quo works either. Broadcasting companies can’t currently compete with cable, satellite and internet companies. Companies like the former Barrington Broadcasting only sought profits and didn’t make investments to improve the quality of the station.

The FCC will not act on anything since Dems will control the FCC I'm fine with cross-ownership with owning both newspapers and TV stations in the same market as that rule is outdated, to begin with.
Go Pistons, Let's Go Redwings.
