A Flint Radio Tradition For Many Years-"Midnight In Bethlehem"

Post by CK-722 » Sun Dec 20, 2020 5:25 am

It's been such a stressful year, I almost forgot that it is almost Christmas. This was a Christmas tradition started by the late PD Daniel J. Hunter at WFDF. "Midnight In Betlehem" by Warren Barker, from Warner Brothers in 1959.

Interestingly, Saturn and Jupiter are supposed to coincide into the Christmas star this year, and we may see it if it ever clears up enough. Hopefully, we will have a Christmas miracle to calm the stormy waters of 2020.

Also the Citizens Bank Christmas Eve Carol Sing. It was a broadcast remote from WFDF, but was carried on nearly all Flint stations. The simulcast ended when they went right into a WFDF jingle after the sing finished, and the folks from other stations got upset about it. For a while, the other stations aired a tape delayed broadcast. Not sure if the tradition continues. For a while after WFDF left town, it was originated by WCRZ as I recall. Not sure if the First Merit Bank and Huntington Bank helped carry on the tradition.
