Worst gimmicks ever used
Of course they all do the adopt-a-cute-pet schtick and diaper darlings.
One of the stations used to have a school class say the pledge of allegiance (before that was deemed racist and Trump-supporting).
Having the local country music radio station provide lame content is weak, but hardly the worst.
My worst includes a segment “Cool School” where an overweight, past-his-prime Jay Brandow, who never bothered to take his coat off indoors creepily asked school children “What makes your school so cool?”
Then there was the basketball tournament with cops, featuring officers in full uniform: bulletproof vest, gun, and taser. I’m guessing an insurance agent didn’t come up with that idea, but someone should have been fired for that one.
Also, one segment where the straight white male talent dressed in drag for charity. Yes, it actually happened.

Very good observations here.JRBlitz wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:40 pmThe Surprise Squad where they spent quite some time finding the most homely people, so they could give them gift certificates.
School Spirit where it's so loud that Marc Jacobson as he talks is spitting in some kids face.
Anything Better-related.
Road Warriors.
Fielder's Choice.
"Coverage you can count on."
A lispy, screaming Smirk Jacobson at 4:30 in the morning is enough to drive anyone crazy. Watching him thtruggle to thay thchool thpirit was fairly entertaining.
Remember when the Surprise Squad ran out of ideas, or budget, or both, and the WNEM employee (who also happened to be a mother) “surprised” the Saginaw Township police department with donuts? Wow, definitely cringe-worthy. There’s another SS segment where she’s hugging someone who clearly did not want to be hugged.
There was also the time that Scot Johnson produced a never-ending segment that sounded like Casey at the Bat but with a Back to the Future theme. Yes, that actually happened and it sucked grapefruits.
Then there was Jason Fielder’s fanboy tribute to family-friendly radio host Howard Stern. It was gayer than a Cher tribute.

How about that ridiculous buck pole where people with small penises brag about killing and stringing up an innocent animal?

I find it funny where other Surprise Squads across the country are buying people homes and cars, while TV5 is like, “Derp, we are paying for your gas, and here’s a donut!”
Then NBC25/FOX66 is like, “Who wants a grilled cheese sandwich for employee appreciation day? Where did everybody go?”
