Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
Speaking of oldies outfits adding 80's music...
My local WCCW (107.5 FM) has been adding 80's music for quite a while to their 70's-dominated playlist. They're called "The 70's Station" for cripes sake! Early 80's cuts I don't mind, but that drum machine/synth-slathered mush has got to go, it's like mixing oil and water. I swear, if they play Van Halen's "Jump" one more time...
Sorry about that. You guys can go on with your conversation now.

The oldies fornat is one of my specialities too.
Oh and no female laugh track morning cohost. Those are ridiculous
F that, lol
I'm a walking music scheduler.
I work real hard when it comes to putting together a setlist.
Like when I'm making a playlist or a cd, every song I've chosen for the playlist almost like "talks" to me as to exactly where it should be, what song HAS to come before it, etc etc.
I've literally spent hours just trying to figure out what the first 3 tracks of a cd should be. I feel those are the most important songs on any album, specifically the opening track.
Back when I was manager of the frozen yogurt store I was talking about the other day, the 2 main CD's I used for my afternoon crowd (the soft rock/AC ones) opened with "Hold My Hand" by Hootie and the Blowfish and the other CD "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette
I've always had an extremely creative personality, that actually drives me insane ! Lol

1090 isn't good into Northern Ohio, so we'll have to pry 560 out of Crawford's hands, figure-out if the southern null can be pulled back down and simulcast what's on 580. IBOC will be thrown into Bolles Harbor, and the C-Quam stereo switched back on from the HONEY Radio days. I'm in.
Just one lottery ticket away from this happening!

Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
My home radio only picks up static from almoat every AM Station. It drives me nuts
Music is my life.
Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
DO NOT buy an Phillips Brand LED fluorescent lamp replacements. Look at the fine printing- it warns of harmful interference from 550KHz to 30MHz - yeah, that's real pretty isn't it. We though power line PLC was bad, imagine you and your neighbors with 4 foot long LED buzz-o-matics in your fluorescent lamp fixtures. That's crap. How can the FCC allow that? And we wonder why home AM reception is so low.

Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
Same with the Home Depot brand of fluorescent fixtures. Even when turned off, somehow these still emit awful RFI, splattering noise over the entire AM band. I've replaced most of them in my house, but haven't replaced the ones in the garage yet. That is the only place left I can't listen to AM.
The Home Depot lights in the garage were also on a digital light switch timer. Double the RFI. I replaced the timer with a basic switch, and now there is less RFI.
In the many years I've investigated RFI in my house, I feel I've become a self-taught expert on the subject LOL.

Zenith, these are great ideas, but for me it’s easier to get a good Sony or Panasonic radio go down stairs to the main power circuit breaker and shut down the power to the house and poof no more electrical interference on the radio, Now the family my not like it, But to bad you want to listen to AM Radio without it sounding like an electric razor, Give the family some blankets and tell them this is an exercise for the event of a power failure and that you just simply want them to be prepared, I think they will understand. Of coarse what do I know I’m just a crazy old man.

LOL.
I have some great radios to receive AM, with excellent sensitivity. Unfortunately, that means the RFI comes through clearer. I did use the breaker trick to identify RFI sources, among other tricks.
Who needs heat and light when listening to the AM radio? Psh. Whiners.

Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
I have a camper. During my RFI issues, I thought the camper would be a nice secluded room away from my house I could use for DXing the AM band. Turns out I was wrong because I replaced all the lights inside with LED's that give off noise as well. The LED's make the battery in the camper last longer, but it's noisy. Ugh, can't win.
Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
Your absolutely right, Hold an led flashlight next to the AM radio and it silences the signal, It of course has to be close to the bar antenna on the radio but it will drown the signal.

Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
Not all LED's do that. My house is mostly LED's and RFI in the house is gone. Dimmers are worse. Speaking of ferrite antennas, I think I want to get a few for some of the old tube radios. Wondering if that will improve reception for 580 here in Livonia.
Re: CKWW 580 Adding More 80’s
I don’t know, 580 is just miserable to the west, I remember going to Farmington years ago and when CBEF was on 540 they were terrible in that area at night, It seems all Windsor Am’s were bad to the west.
