Michael Fish - Fox 17 Weather Guy
Michael Fish - Fox 17 Weather Guy
I'm watching Fow 17 tonight only to see Michael Fish doing the weather. It appears as though he has a low-budget setup. Who is he??

Since his bio says he joined FOX 17 this month and is a Scripps transfer from Green Bay, maybe he is farming in his work until he actually relocates.

Saw this guy on this weekend and it made me instantly miss the good weather staff they used to have: Candace, Haleigh, and Isabella. *sigh*

I noticed too on his first night on air there was a very awkward pause between the weather bumper ending and him starting to speak. So I agree that he is probably working remotely for now. On the second night, Fish the pause was gone so I'm thinking they figured out the time delay so that he actually started speaking earlier so that when everything went through the switcher, it looked more natural (other than that awful lighting). Another clue he is probably remote: he never appears at the desk with the anchors.
Didn't someone at 13 work remotely while they were in the process of moving here? And of course 8 had someone remote on a temp basis while Ellen was on maternity leave (drawing a blank who that was)
If Scripps was smart (HA!), they would have tried getting Isabella back

This would've made my wife VERY happy. She loved Lauren and Isabella on the weekend mornings. She really dislikes Reece (and Kevin is terrible on weekends when he has to do psuedo-anchoring at the desk and/or couch).dwp49423 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 7:23 pmI noticed too on his first night on air there was a very awkward pause between the weather bumper ending and him starting to speak. That was Brian James who used to be WWMT weekend weather met for a few months but moved back to TX he worked for the NBC O&O in Dallas. I'm guessing that Brian does the weather from TX for Nexstar TV stations across the country when needed.dwp49423 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2024 7:23 pmI noticed too on his first night on air there was a very awkward pause between the weather bumper ending and him starting to speak. Yeah, could tell that Michael Fish was recording the weather for Fox17 which doesn't flow well for the newcast in my opinion. Couldn't Michael have done a home setup for a live shot, good thing there wasn't major weather in West Michigan as a tape weather wouldn't have been a good look. This is Scripps where they like to prerecord the news.

Nexstar built a hub in Dallas, yes. Scripps' antics and firings of Isabella and Candace (positions eliminated) and Haleigh quitting, followed by their news director quitting put fox17 in a tough pickle. Scripps is getting what they deserve. They also had a Lansing met working out of there that they canned (position eliminated) as well that could have easily have filled the spots open. They can't make a good decision to save their lives!MasterB wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 12:28 amThat was Brian James who used to be WWMT weekend weather met for a few months but moved back to TX he worked for the NBC O&O in Dallas.
