Plans at WZZM

Post by Sholmes » Mon Dec 12, 2022 6:11 pm

Just curious, does anyone know if WZZM has a plan for when Juliet and George step aside?

Personally, I hope it does not involve anyone from the morning crew moving to nights.

What ever the plans are.... they will involve a lot of tik tok dance videos. Last week... snow storm hitting the area and Sam Jacques is posting TikTok videos of the anchors and news staff dancing together.

I'm all in for fun... does TikTok or reporting the news and weather pay your bills???
No wonder WZZM has been in the toilet for 28 years.....

I have noticed George has took alot more vacations lately, he's not much younger than Bill Steffen. I have a feeling George sticks around a handful of years.

George just recently celebrated his 42nd anniversary at the station. I imagine he probably has a few years left, but are any of the other meteorologists currently there of the caliber to take over the role of Chief? It's been years since I've regularly watched WZZM to have any idea.

I could see Val Lego transitioning to the anchor chair when Juliet retires.

I think Sam would be good for the Chief if she remains at WZZM when George retires.

It sure looks like WOOD is pushing Steffen out the door, during his weird "sort of retirement" announcement the other week, he kept inserting comments that he hopes to serve several more years. I must have been the only one watching that got the feeling all of that was done to try and coax him out.

That said, Steffen will replace Lessens so he can serve out his retirement years doing what he loves, weather. 13 can promote it as a big ole homecoming.

13 needs a news set. Anchors standing in front of a big screen with tablets screams public access channel. Embarrassing.

I don't care for the big video wall either. It is oversized. Makes the anchors look like dwarfs.

I like the set as whole, though.

I think they can keep the big wall and add back a real anchor desk with everyone SITTING behind it. Then you to no need to keep the camera back so far at the end of each broadcast Giant Jamal standing next to the three dwarfs.

The big wall can then be used to change the look of the set for each broadcast or infomercial they are doing.

Val Lego is not the Juliet replacement option any longer, she stepped down (out?) about three weeks ago.

If George has anything to do with it, she won't stick around long enough. He is notorious for treating his weather department "threats" like sh$%. It's well known how badly he despised Vogel, Kopecek and Ofseyer due to their popularity on air and in the community. Zero chance she sticks around in this market only to be ostraziced by George in that department. It has already started and wont get any better.

Sam will be leaving once her hubby gets a good lawyer job .... George has been a tool for 40 years... ever since I met him, Bill, and Craig back in the 80s... he always seemed jealous of the others...
