Mix 95.7 dumps Fish & Christine from mornings; heads in new direction

Post by MWmetalhead » Mon Oct 04, 2021 3:09 pm

I suppose this is not entirely surprising, as WLHT waited forever...and ever...and ever to rebrand its morning show following Connie's passing. Moreover, the station's ratings aren't as strong as they used to be.

Big Joe Pesh, who evidently hosted or co-hosted mornings on Thunder 94-5 (possibly with Steve Stewart - aka "Scrubs") before the conversion to Gnash FM, is the new morning man at WLHT. I recognize his photograph but I cannot recall if I ever actually listened to him the last time he was in town. A female co-host is in process of being hired.

Mr. Pesh does have a fair amount of CHR morning drive experience, working at both Hot 96 in Evansville and Radio Now 100.9 in Indianapolis. Also, Y100 (country) is consistently a top five or top six station in San Antonio, which is a highly competitive radio market.

All-in-all, this seems like a good hire.

Sounds like a good hire. I hope 95.7 can find the secret sauce they had with Connie. They were really firing on all cylinders once Connie & Curtis/ Fish settled in. Tom Cook was also the big changing factor behind the scenes that really brought 95.7 out of the ashes a few years back. Best of luck to Big Joe, I've heard he's a really nice guy and a solid talent.

Pesh might not be done “Fishing” in GR. He might have to “sit this one out” until he catches the big one.
