Best part of yesterday's tornado coverage by WOOD-TV...

Loved the repeated references to the unincorporated community named "Horr" in western Isabella County.

Is that even a real place? I have a feeling many of the unincorporated community names that appear on weather map software haven't seen common use since the early 1900s!

It happens as well in Toledo. The long-abandoned ghost town of "Ai" gets mentioned during severe weather alerts. I wonder how many viewers care about these small unincorporated communities?

I learned via Google that "Horr" (pronounced just like "Whore") is named after a former Congressman who represented Michigan in the 1890s.

Most politicians are indeed whores, so that name is quite fitting. :)

Same thing in Genesee County. Duffield is nothing more than a railroad crossing. Over 100 years ago, it might have been a community, when the trains stopped there.

Those tiny, tiny towns!

We can kinda find 'West Olive' when necessary?

Try finding 'South Popeye'! I think the Sears Tower used to be there?

So many of these places aren't even "officially" recognized unincorporated communities or CDPs. Wild.

I thought Saugatuck was small, but there is an East Saugatuck too.
