Media Ownership Rules Dashed

Post by zackeast » Fri Apr 02, 2021 6:47 am

From Radio World, and just about every other major publication in the media world: "Supreme Court Rules on Media Ownership Question: Top court reverses Third Circuit judgment." https://www.radioworld.com/news-and-bus ... p-question

Situations I see arising:
- Nexstar and Sinclair will fight to own entire markets and eat other operators
- iHeart buying as many quality signals / heritage brands in markets as they can
- Newspaper potentially being picked up by some radio operators in small markets so they can control most of the content being produced in those markets. I don't see TV making newspaper buys. But radio, I could see them buying quality brand names and reporters, mostly using their websites, and probably shuttering or outsourcing print

Thoughts about some of the potential local moves in GR, Kzoo, Muskegon, etc that could come from this ruling?
