FACEBOOK POST:
I was at breakfast at the diner in my hometown of Swartz Creek, this morning, when the waitress refilling our coffee said,
“You’re on TV, right, honey?!”
I said back, “Was...yes”.
I got the “bad kind” of chills all over.
“WAS”.
First time I’d ever said that out loud, but it won’t be the last.
After 4 yrs. of welcoming me into your homes, in mid-Michigan, each & every one of you DESERVE an explanation.
I did NOT leave TV-5 on my own — I was told this past Wednesday, that would be my final day of work.
I will say, I was given a “loose thread” reason, at best.
What started out as a normal day, ended FAR from normal.
Being “on the air” is about 50% of what Journalists do.
The majority of the visits, events & fundraisers I Emcee’d, advocated for & shared with you... were done on my own time — I was not paid for those “extras”, they were not “required”.
I did it because I truly WANTED to.
As a self-proclaimed “work-aholic”, even knowing the final outcome, I wouldn’t go back & change a single thing, if I could.
I gave 150% every. single. day.
That was not good enough.
I took just as much pride in my career OFF the clock, as I did ON the clock.
I can only hope that I had a positive impact on the lives of people — & pets — that crossed my path.
I have no idea what’s next.
NO idea.
I DO know God has a plan, that we aren’t always supposed to understand.
I think God knew I’ve been exhausted for about 6 years.
I think God knew I had an hour commute to & from work, in the middle of the night.
I think God knew I was giving more and more of my time to work, every single week.
I think God made this decision FOR me.
For now, I am enjoying a mental break.
I am resting, I am not on a deadline, I am open to whatever my calling is.
I intend to keep this page for a different use, now: to share the adventures of “Zinny” & I as we visit hospice patients, to share photos of inspiration & uplifting words... & to give you an inside look at this tremendous transition in my life.
Thank you.
Thank you for embracing the stories of SO many inspiring people, I was able to meet.
Thank you for having coffee “with” me, each morning.
Thank you for following my journey.
