640/810

Whazzup with these two stations? WMFN-640 has been off the air for several weeks. And now WMJH-810 has been dark for at least a week (the two stations had simulcast before 640 went off).

I can't tell if the 93.3 "translator" is still on (I am too close to WMPA's 93.1 transmitter). I read that FCC rules require an AM translator to leave the air if the AM station is dark more than 3 days, however.

I did hear that there were four shiny new towers for WMFN up between Manteno and Peotone, IL.

They removed the 640 transmitter a couple weeks ago. That station is now officially gone from Zeeland.

810 has had transmitter trouble and they are in the process of getting it fixed. I think that it is still on the air, but at real low power until the transmitter is fixed.

Shut down permanently? If so, then 93.3 is illegal and must be shut down, too.

Get it straight. 640 is off. Sima has constructed the new 640 as he won the license from Southern Indiana in an auction, filed CP in agreement that Zeeland would be off.

As for 810, it is on low power for a moment as the Power Supply Board (one of 2) had a slug climb up and across the board and touched a high-power/ohm resistor and a buss/fuse causing it to toast part of the board. NO, 810 HAS NOT BEEN SHUT OFF. We are waiting on replacement.. So, don't put "per Boomer" on something that isn't true. I did not say such a thing.

So no, no laws are broke. Don't speculate and start rumors when you "don't know." OK? Thanks gang!

810 is coming in clear as a bell, albeit 4.5 mi. from the transmitter site.

I think it was actually done in a way that 640 Zeeland was the surviving license (640 Terre Haute's CP expired a couple of years ago)

Heard 810 loud & clear by the airport last weekend. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

The Chicago stations were coming in unusually well that day. WLS and especially WMVP were locking in on seek mode near Lowell around 11 AM in the morning.

MEMO TO 89-EX: FIX YOUR SHITTY SOUNDING AUDIO!! WE CAN HARDLY HEAR THE FRIGGIN' STATION! Thanks in advance.
