Apologies for the temporary site outage from approximately 1PM ET on Monday, December 11 through the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday. The Buzzboard was targeted (yet again) by a hacker, this time from the Middle East. The site was able to be restored using a backup file from early Sunday morning.

WXSP broadcast range question.

Post by OneBigFan » Sun Jan 24, 2016 6:14 pm

Joined the cable cutting community a few months ago. I live too far south and never have been able to get WGVU or WZZM.

But in the last week WXSP (15/The X?) and 15.1 (My Network) and 15.2 (COZI) have disappeared even after multiple antenna auto scans.

Have they cut power or changed something? Nothing has changed on my end.

Depending how far south you should be able to get WGVK/WGVU on Ch 5 over the air. It has a decent signal.

Keep in mind though that WGVK is among a small number of stations operating on RF VHF-Low, which is heavily prone to interference. WGVK operates on RF 5.

My furthest DTV tropo: KDKA Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at 202 miles for three days in January 2017 and a night in September 2017 with only an Antennas Direct C2V!

Current setup: Antennas Direct C2Max (2018-present)

Don't forget that depending where you live, you might be able to pick up one of the WXSP translator stations.

WOHO-CD 33 HOLLAND, MI
WOKZ-CD 50 KALAMAZOO, MI
WOBC-CD 14 BATTLE CREEK, MI
WOMS-CD 29 MUSKEGON, MI

I've never had issues receiving WGVU in Muskegon. In fact, I even get WGVK's signal sometimes (albeit it's usually scrambly).
