Because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six

How is it a win? Is there any indication this will be enforced, unlike existing laws?

What happens if "gun violence" goes up after she signed these bills? Would that mean she did something "meaningful"??

Maybe not, but it gives a psychological feeling that something is being done though. :rollin

Celebrate!! Someone put on that Kool & The Gang song....no more mass shootings here in Michigan....
By golly Gretch, just like the time you saved our lives back in the Covid days by making us walk down the aisles one way at the stores...you've come up with a fool proof way to stifle mass shootings here in Michigan....

Lots of things CAN be done, but none of those are happening, nor being discussed.

One of the common elements to ALL school shootings and nearly all other "mass shootings" is that they ALL happened in "gun free" zones. Yet that law DID NOT stop the perpetrator from entering with a gun. ALL it did was identify those spots as EASY TARGETS that can't defend themselves.

We're also not talking about, nor doing anything about, the mental issues associated with the shooters. Most of these shooters had a HISTORY, with several already being known by local police or the FBI, yet nothing was done. With some of those and others in the school shootings the shooter was WELL KNOWN to many other kids in the school (and much of the school admin) as having mental problems that weren't getting addressed. How many of THOSE discussions are happening now. NONE. We just dismiss that as "that kid is just different" and "he/she is just expressing themselves differently". HA

HAHAHA. It' a big joke but it's too bad (sad, really) that's we're doing NOTHING except "feel good" stuff.

Maybe she'll make the aisles in schools one-way to stop the shootings. Yea, that's the ticket! That'll do it!

Mental issues exist in other countries… the guns are what doesn’t.

“We need more areas guns can be carried! Nothing else we can do! Certainly don’t reduce the number of guns… who in their right mind would do such a thing?”
-Citizen of only country with this many guns and therefore mass shootings on a daily basis.

Here’s a foolproof way:
Get rid of the guns. Just like a screwdriver screws… well… in a screw. And a hammer drives in a nail… a gun is a unitasker. It’s sole purpose for existing is to kill things. Shooting contests and target practice are sidelights akin to axe throwing before somebody claims there’s some other reason for a guns existence.

If people aren't storing guns safely now, is this law really going to make them? I'm struggling to see how requiring background checks on shotguns is going to stop gun violence and mass shootings. This is political grandstanding.

We should be focusing on why we have homicidal maniacs roaming freely. But that attention would most likely show massive failures in government.

Well… we closed all the mental hospitals the state ran and said the private sector could do better. Thanks Engler. Not sure what was done in other states but the era of guys in coats showing up to take you away in a straight jacket are kind of over.

Also, if the same Democratic party passing this bill would at the same time enforce existing laws, the MSU shooter wouldn't have been legally able to have a gun.

Fixed that for you
