Whitmer the Queen

Post by MWmetalhead » Sat Jul 29, 2023 9:23 am

What is the female equivalent term for "hizzoner" ?

$1 million for a fucking driveway is absurd. I guess she doesn't want to charge her EV in the same way everyone else is required. She's too good for that.

Kudos to the Detroit Free Press for this report.

No bid contract and no attempt to raise the money. This is bizarre. Remember this at a time when State Democrats are desperately trying to raise taxes in 2024 and were trying EVERYTHING not to cut taxes for 2023.

Per the article, Whitmer doesn't even drive an electric vehicle.
Whitmer, who travels with the Michigan State Police, does not currently travel regularly in an EV. "This project is not about the current governor but rather, future administrations, and the market is shifting toward electric vehicles," said LaRouche.

"The state fleet already has electric vehicles. Additionally, many individuals who have business at the residence also use electric vehicles."
This whole project appears to be for the purpose of installing those EV chargers. Pure politics, AND, why can't those who have business at the residence charge their vehicles at places everyone else does? Is the range on these cars so short that they have to recharge at the governor's mansion?

As an aside, the governor is really exaggeration the alleged "deteriorating condition" of the driveway. Doesn't look that bad to me. I'd say it looks better than 90 percent of Michigan roads.

Now you're a contractor?

Since we are dealing with a paywall, did Whitmer specifically order the improvements or was this the state department which manages the Governors mansion? Adding EV accessibility is not that unusual.

EDIT after looking at the article, 875,000 seems excessive for a commercial driveway but look at how much there is, and Michigan uses prevailing wage rates, so this is a quality union job.

Whitmer also had nothing to do with this project, she is merely a tenant.

I thought that this thread would somehow be about the governor being exposed as a transwoman.

As someone who has been doing a full renovation on their home over the last year, this sounds high but not insane, considering the amount of area and special considerations that need to be made. Just a patio was quoted to us for $60k last w. Getting anyone to do anything costs an arm and a leg nowadays. I don't see a problem with the governor having a $45k EV charging hook-up.

So I'm curious then - if visitors will be allowed to charge their vehicles, will that electric bill ultimately go to the taxpayers? And if so, how is this any different than if the governor had a gas pump installed and had the state pay for the gasoline?

That's right BMW, taxpayers visit and get some of the taxpayer electricity. Ever see a traffic light? Does your city have street lights?

When you think about it, the USA is a bit of a socialist society, sharing some of our costs with each other. Did you know that people who pay no taxes get to use taxpayer services? In fact, I bet you get more from the government than you pay in.

That is petty to the bit of extreme.

Way to dance around my question without actually answering it. How would this be any different than installing a gas pump?

I wonder what this "EV charger" really consists of. Somewhere I think an article talks about charging TWO vehicles, so these are not multi-vehicle chargers.

Just running some numbers though.... lets say they're an average Level 2 charger. If you charged 8 hrs a day (@10kW) that would be 80kWh per day or 20,800 kWh a year for each charger (5days/wk, 52wks). At 40,800 kWh per year, the cost of the charger install would add about $1 to the "per kWh" charge. Even if you stretch the cost out over FIVE years, that still adds $0.20 to the cost of EACH kWh. That more than DOUBLES the cost to charge an electric vehicle, since the BW&L in Lansing charges about $0.168 per kWh.

Charge any less than that, and the real "cost per kWh" just skyrockets.

That's a lot of silly math to say "I'm mad about someone I don't like being in a house they don't own installing things I don't like for people to use"

I suspect once the $1 million driveway is complete, Herroner will purchase or lease an EV.

Some of the statements in the work order are pure bullshit.
