His son has taken over operations n the past few ears, but Matty was still around the office. People are saying congestive heart failure. Haven't seen it in the news yet, thought i would throw it out there.

I generally try not to speak ill of the dead, but this one is tough. I'm excited for the Gordie Howe Bridge to open in 2024.

I'm not from there, so could you explain the animosity? What did this guy do wrong?

Cheated on his taxes, corrupt as hell, sat on property that became blighted and let it rot.

He was a slumlord with his bridge and surrounding properties and had state legislators in his back pocket. While the Ambassador Bridge is iconic, its location sucks. The Gordie Howe Bridge will connect I-75 directly to 401 in Canada. Presumably the border checkpoint will be much nicer. The current checkpoint on the Detroit side looks like trash.

Wasn’t he a little deficient in bridge Maintanance too? I remember some sort of scandal around that...

It takes a certain personality to get both Republicans and Democrats to hate you. Matty pulled it off.

I bet they keep the location of his grave secret to minimize the dancing and the urination.

Our old pal G G used to say he and ol' Manny were good friends.

I'd forgotten that he actually spent a night in the Wayne County Jail for some damned thing or another around 2012. He was allowed to have restaurant food delivered.

Never met him personally but, during my career, I had to do business with one of his many trucking Companies. Most employers I dealt with were decent employers. But this guy was pure sleaze.

Slimy scumbag or savvy businessman... spends on how you look at it I guess. I have no dog in the fight, but to celebrate his death is a bit low brow don't you think?

I mean... damn.
