Kwame Pardon?
Karmanos is trying to get him pardoned by Trump. I agree his sentence seems excessive but I don't agree a complete pardon should be given.
Ask not what your country can do FOR you; ask what they are about to do TO YOU!!
Re: Kwame Pardon?
He earned all 28 years of that prison sentence as far as I'm concerned. He received barely over 1 year per felony of his 24 felony convictions, many of which individually carry up to 20-year prison sentences. Combine that with the fact that his crimes were committed as a public official, and I just have no sympathy for him whatsoever. He's one of the most corrupt people to hold public office in the history of our country.
Re: Kwame Pardon?
I agree with bmw. No sense in letting him free and preying on the public again.
Did he ever repay what was due??

Re: Kwame Pardon?
I think he is barred from public office in Michigan.
How can you pay it back while in prison?
Kwame is one the reasons Duggan won. Even people of Detroit were tired of the corruption.

He had money and lots of it to pay restitution when he went in.audiophile wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 12:47 pmI think he is barred from public office in Michigan.

Re: Kwame Pardon?
Well stated, BMW. I really have nothing to add, other than the below link, which perhaps was the impetus for Audiophile's opening post:

Pete Karmanos is nuts.
I might be a *little* more sympathetic to Kwame's cause if he showed any contrition, apologized for his actions, or worked to pay restitution in good faith. He's done none of the above. Kwame's already massive ego would swell by 100x if he were to receive a Presidential pardon.
If Trump were to pardon Kwame, there'd be a much lower likelihood of me voting for Trump's reelection.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.
Re: Kwame Pardon?
Karmanos said Trump would have an incentive for commuting Kilpatrick's sentence before the presidential election.
He said the former mayor could campaign on Trump's behalf in Michigan.
That's the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. Maybe this guy is really a never-Trump republican and is engaging in sabotage - that's the only rational explanation for such a statement.

Re: Kwame Pardon?
Karmanos made it sound like a Kwame parson could win Trump votes in Detroit... that doesn’t sound very never Trumper... it sounds like he means what he’s saying... pardon Kwame and Trump immediately loses Michigan. You can write it off.bmw wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 10:15 pmKarmanos said Trump would have an incentive for commuting Kilpatrick's sentence before the presidential election.

Karmanos may have spent too much time at the moog.

Re: Kwame Pardon?
Wasn't Karmanos the guy (or one of the guys) that was trying to work with Granholm on getting Kwame to 'gracefully' resign so he could avoid prosecution? I don't remember all the details now, but I do remember a few high-profile folks working on that (was Penske one too?).
On a related note... I do remember seeing the "Kwame a River" play out in Novi and that was hysterical. Did anyone else get a chance to see that?

Re: Kwame Pardon?
Kwame shouldn't get a pardon he needs to stay in jail for the whole term and pay back the city of Detroit and the state as well.
