Channel 7 provides fake traffic detour to avoid WB M-59 accident

Post by MWmetalhead » Tue Jan 23, 2024 6:09 am

Does no one at 7 know how to use Google maps?

To avoid a westbound M-59 accident near Dequindre, channel 7 advised exiting at Mound Rd, using "Dorby Rd" to head west (it is actually Dobry Rd), and then rejoining westbound M-59 at John R Rd. This advice was dispensed at about 6:02 this morning.

Never mind the fact John R Rd lacks an interchange with M-59.

I guess motorists are supposed to drive up the embankment? 😂

I kind of wonder why the local news stations bother with traffic anymore. There’s WWJ while you’re driving and Google maps will give you an accurate detour every time automatically. Who needs this way too short to cover everything report anyways?

Not to nitpick, but it's actually Dobry DRIVE.

Assuming the accident was west of the Dequindre on-ramp, Dobry Dr / South Blvd to Rochester Rd should have been the proper alternate route in this scenario

Although you are correct that the information given was inaccurate, your use of the word fake is also inaccurate.
A mistake isn’t fakery and fakery isn’t a mistake.
This is obviously a mistake.

I disagree. Failure to do proper due diligence is tantamount to dispensing fake news.

This was carelessness, not a simple mistake.

If the only error were the misspelling of Dobry, then I'd agree with you.
