I would expect their automation system to completely screw up NBC Nightly News on 4.3.

The usual disaster:

6:30 - 6:32 NBC Nightly News
6:32 - 6:40 M*A*S*H
6:40 First commercial break
6:44 NBC Nightly News joined in the middle of a story for 19 seconds and back to M*A*S*H.
6:46 NBC Nightly News for one second until it went to a commercial break.
6:50 NBC Nightly News for 9 seconds until it switched to M*A*S*H for the remaining time.

Next round will probably be at 6:30pm Sunday before the Lions game.

Channel 4 shouldn't be preempting network newscasts for pregame fluff extravaganzas in the first place, in my opinion.
I may need to respectfully disagree with you. With both the Wolverines and Lions now in the playoffs, I'm thinking the majority of viewers prefer "pregame fluff" over Lester and Company.

The national championship game is preemption worthy for game coverage certainly.

The post you quoted was in reference to Michigan vs. a horrible Minnesota team.
Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

YUP, they managed to f*ck this up AGAIN.
YAY, WDIV and Hub Operations.
Still can't find the automation override button.
How hard is this, really??
It's probably in the User Guide.

Why bother carrying Nightly News on a subchannel at all if this always happens? If they decide to preempt it, they shouldn't bother carrying it at all.

Yeah, just don't air Nightly News if WDIV is doing special coverage of something since it seems they screw up a lot. I know Fox17 in GR does a good job of putting Fox NFL Kickoff show on the air since the main channel airs Lions Gameday Live although that is an air hour delay at 11AM as they air Sunday Mass at 10AM forever on Sun.

Oops forgot hour why I edited it just now.

They don't appear to have a clue that "this always happens."

Exactly.
If a pregame show, even before regular season play, preempted NBC Nightly News, how many viewers (other than here on Buzzboard) would be disgruntled if they didn't show Lester anywhere? At any time.

It's like when Monday Night Football runs late. Nobody cares about a half hour of Channel Seven Action News starting at 11:45 at night. Show Kimmel.

Today I sent a feedback note on their website clearly explaining it and mentioned various dates when it happened so they know it wasn't a one time thing. Whether anybody reads it or acts on it is unknown but it couldn't hurt to try.

A few years ago someone from Local 4 engineering surprised me at how fast they called me back after I had called about an issue. The issue got fixed quickly after that. Maybe I'll get lucky this time as well and the feedback will get to the right person.

Late Night on Friday 1/12, while the snow and ice was flying and before Xfinity went out on me, I channeled past MeTV (298/4.3), and it was simulcasting the Tonight Show, in some bizarre aspect ratio, instead of regular MeTV fare. They just can't get that sh*t right.

The mix of Collector's Call and NBC Nightly News will be on tomorrow with another pregame on Local 4.

Yes, at 12:35 I switched over to MeTV to watch The Twilight Zone as one of my favorite episodes (A Stop at Willoughby) was scheduled to air. Instead I saw a strangely zoomed-in aspect ratio of Seth Meyer’s face. (The extreme close-up of Seth grinning may have been scarier than The Twilight Żonę to be fair.)

If they can't fix this and still insist on doing things like this, they should add a disclaimer when they make these announcements that the viewing of the moved show in its entirety is not guaranteed.

Another pregame on Sunday except it is for two hours this time from noon-2pm. Can't blame them as that will certainly get more viewers than the regularly scheduled Iowa-Ohio State women's basketball game. I wonder if they will even bother moving that to MeTV to be mixed with The Brady Bunch and Leave It To Beaver.
