New Nielsen audio numbers - lots of movement!

Post by MWmetalhead » Wed Oct 04, 2023 6:16 pm

Big gains for Audacy; possible new record high for WYCD in the beauty pageant 6+ results.

The Ticket is at a 10.6 share when counting their very healthy streaming share.

WJLB is suddenly struggling! They are now tied with 98.7!

Disappointing book for Fake Wheels 106.7.

WDET is showing some minor signs of life. They were down to a 0.6 share earlier this year.

WUFL's stream is publicly reported even though its FM share is not; weird.

WJR's changes were met with a collective yawn.

Mix is wiping the floor clean with Kiss.

How is 1270 at a 0.3? Is sports betting and Spanish Tigers broadcasts that in demand?

910 is back in the books with a 0.1. Still no advertising.

Hey, dial-it-in just sent me a text and asked me to post this. I'm posting it for me, also.

Fuck you, WLLZ, and every decision maker there.

910 actually rated? Guess Bryce had a PPM this survey.

WXYT Streaming a 2.0 beats WJR’s 1.8. How much longer can the former icon hold on?

WJR’s declining ratings are embarrassing.

Damn, if the Lions stay strong 97.1 is only going to increase their numbers.

It's disappointing to see, even with all the voicetracking and out of market talent they have, that WYCD is doing so well. I can't stand Katie & Company on middays and Coop being voicetracked from out of market sucks too. I also don't like their CHR imaging as 99-5 'YCD and the CHR jingles they have. I really wish WYCD had some real live and local competition.

I think football season overall helps them a lot.

Agreed.
If you go on archive.org and look at the Detroit ratings back in 2011-2014, when the Tigers were a winning team, 97.1 was pulling in killer numbers every month, especially during and near the postseason.

Are all their listeners dying off of old age? Or simply bored to death with the programming?

I find it interesting that with 97.1’s pretty consistent position among the top five of monthly rankings that no other station has tried to syphon off listeners by going sports talk. I kind of remember maybe 105.1 trying about 7 or 8 years ago. I recall that as an uninspired effort, at least to my ears. With as much criticism as I see on this board about the various hosts at the ticket it would seem a natural that some station would give it a shot. Maybe that is where WJR could try to retrieve some of its dignity. Could a lack of decent air talent be the main roadblock to such an endeavor?
