WWJ was 10th highest billing AM station nationwide in 2022

Not bad. They are more or less tied with 700 WLW.

I am highly skeptical of the figure shown for 850 KOA.

Stations with FM simulcasts (unless it is an FM translator) were excluded from eligibility, which is why WBBM, KNBR and KYW do not appear, among others.

WWJ at its peak billed about $27 million annually, so they've fallen by about one-half since then.

Many well known large and major market stations have seen billing decline 50, 60 or even 70 percent from peak levels witnessed ~20 years ago.

Noteworthy stations that WWJ outperforms from a revenue vantage point include WBAP in Dallas, KRLD in Dallas, WBZ in Boston, WOR in New York, WABC in New York, KIRO in Seattle, and KSFO in San Francisco.

Those numbers for KLAC are OUTSTANDING given its ratings. Just another reason I believe Audacy has gotta put Sports on FM in LA sooner than later.

Being flagship for the Dodgers and Clippers certainly helps their cause. I think they have the Chargers, too.

I’m kind of surprised WBBM doesn’t bill higher… all news in the third largest city in the country and all…

6+ is a metric to measure AM listeners? It must have been a typo, it should read 60+.

Heartbreaking that WGN (formerly the top billing station in the US in 2004) isn't even on the list... Thank you Randy Michaels.

WBBM has a full power FM so it isn’t included on the list.

Exactly. That station bills around $32 million a year, if I remember correctly.

TC Talks - WGN is #6 on the top AM billers list. They are not top 10, though, on the AM cume list. They're an example of a station whose billing has gone down by about two-thirds since reaching peak levels.

Cume numbers are from June. Losing the Cubs has not helped WGN in that regard.

If cume were taken from fall or winter, WWJ would probably crack the 400,000 mark quite easily.

I can't listen to that swill on WLW anymore, at least the talk shows on there anyways.

For it is a human number
Its number is six hundred and sixty-six
