I’m assuming today was the first day of the Home & Appliance Show w/Joe not being on WJR?! Anyone have any info on where Joe may end up? I know they were teasing the new destination as a way to have people sign up for some newsletter or something, as the info may be contained therein.

My hunch says Joe goes the brokered route again like he did at the Ann Arbor stations. I don't see anyone hiring him, not because of his content or talent, but because that's how the radio market is these days.

Nobody's out there "selling" or cold calling, or doing spec spots the way we used to. The AE's in Cubicle City inside a radio station are all basically order takers. Joe's show would likely not be a priority.

The last time I was in the Fisher Building, the WJR sales area was nearly empty. But that was probably 18 years ago. Probably another reason why they downsized the space.

I remember the over dressed old crone who had the school closings account with Meemic Insurance. She was there, even at dark thirty in the morning in a blizzard, to make sure the school closings and Meemic spots were done correctly. As much as people disliked her, that's the kind of sales exec that would probably help Joe keep his job.

Try to find Donald "The Hammer" Schuster, Joe's producer. I'm sure he's on social media. (Donald was on W4 Detroit, way back during the AOR days, btw)
