Loco 4 - c'mon now...really?

Post by MWmetalhead » Sat May 13, 2023 6:16 am

Loco 4 thinks the opening of a pawn shop is worthy of a live reporter inside the store waxing poetically about its grand opening later this morning.

Usually, this is the type of report one might expect from a major trade show open to the public or perhaps an outdoor community festival or art fair. instead, Loco 4 gives this type of giddy, excited reporting to a damn pawn shop.

One must wonder if paid advertising is being disguised as a news report.

Morgan Wallen is a piece of garbage.

That would be my guess.

Is it my imagination or are 4’s newscasts slowly going downhill? They’ve been giving airtime to some really dinky stuff as lead story lately…

so here is the deal; these weekend shows are not "news" in the same way that 5/6/11 pm weekday news casts are; those true news casts cannot have any of these promotional shenanigan.

the Nine/weekend stuff is more infotainment thinly disguised as news (mostly because they do weather so often) - but that's when you will have your "experts" on for a segment talking about something that is newsworthy, but its always some local expert that is (or has recently) advertised with the station, and this is just "bonus" for them.

i wouldn't think a brand new pawn shop in a single location is advertising on OTA network tv, but maybe that falls under the "feel good"/community service BS that passes for quasi news these days

BIG BOB BENNETT would not approve, there was always some overpass on a snowy February morning at 5 am he had to be at to report from

Weekend news is nothing but fluff stories, they cover no hard news, mostly it's about food, drink, charity walks or art shows. The only other choice is the National shows which are no better. I saw that pawn shop bit and thought who really cares about this.

Well… today they would put him on a snowy overpass that overlooks the featured business of the day and much time would be spent looking at exterior changes and roof work.

It is a different pawnshop and owner. The Local 4 story reported on the grand opening of Motor City Pawn shop in Hamtramck.
