Is WHNE out for long?

Post by km1125 » Tue Aug 30, 2022 9:09 am

Anybody know what's going on with WHNE? Are they still on the air? I haven't been able to pick them up since the storm. Could it be just a power issue (and they don't have a generator?) or could they have taken more damage from the storm?

Can anybody else pick it up? Is it just me that can't?

Yup. A number of AM stations in the area were either off the air or broadcasting dead carriers last evening.

Not much rain or lightning but we had a ton of wind in my locale around 6p last night. Probably had a couple gusts to hurricane force.

DTE restored my power remarkably quickly; got a message stating it was restored around 1PM. I was thrilled. I was expecting it to be out for at least another day.

Sure looks like a weak tornado touched down in Richmond, per video footage I've seen. That wasn't just a "gustnado". The existence of a funnel from the cloud base can be seen in the video.

All of the Birach stations are still down except for WNZK. That’s not a surprise.

Just noticed that RF31 isn't broadcasting any of the NextGenTV stations in ATSC 3.0, they are all blank as well.

Still no reception from WHNE. Looked at the DTE outage map and there's still a few outages reported in Oak Park, so perhaps they're one of those.

Also noticed that I'm not getting any of the subchannels on WTVS. I get 56.1, but none of the others. Are they also running on low power? (not necessarily the transmitter, but the operations).

Also noticed that WXYZ added another subchannel... at 7.5

WHNE is back this morning

WTVS has been having issues these last few days, they must be fixing something

And 7.5 another shopping channel just what isn't needed.
