WDVD is like a 2000-current Doug FM?

Post by MotorCityRadioFreak » Sun Aug 28, 2022 6:15 pm

In the last two days, I have heard the Killers, Lil Jon, Chainsmokers, Britney Spears, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, and some new hot ac/top 40 music sprinkled in. It seems like they are abandoning a lot of the alternative rock and trying to give 105.1 a run for the money by playing a little bit of everything. I like it.

They/them, non-binary and proud.

The right needs to stop worry about what’s between people’s legs. Instead, they should focus on what’s between their ears.
Audacity sucks.

I'll have to check it out. WDVD and WMGC are polar opposites, I'm thinking you mean 100.3?

Well, I meant to include that they are playing Alicia Keys, Rihanna(older stuff), and the like as well.

Yeah, its decent. It gets more play when the wife or daughter are in the car than when I'm in there by myself though.

Time to bring back WHYT . Could be the power house it was back in the day. There are plenty of us who would love to jam out to it again.

I am sure former PD Rick Gillette would disagree. During an FCC inspection, he was asked by the inspector "Why are we not hearing the call letters?" Gillette told him, "Because they suck. When I first got here, we had bumper stickers that almost said "White Power" on them!" :rollin

They should have stuck with Planet. It's a good brand name. "Whyt Power" on a bumper sticker, or the acronym for Digital Video Disc, is not thinking things all the way through.

They've been playing those songs for months and The Bounce is beating them in the ratings.

In the beauty pageant numbers (6+), Detroit's Venereal Disease (96.3 DVD) has seen some of its worst ratings of the PPM era this year.

I think sounding like 95.5-lite wasn't working all that well for them.

They do seem to be playing a lot of 2000's Rhythmic pop music lately. We'll see if that helps the ratings at all.

Sooooooo this begs the question of how things are going at Cume-U-Less Detroit...

I can't remember 96.3 being this irrelevant since at least 2004 or so.

Reminds me of Lite 93.9 in the 2000s.

I do remember this.

I also remember this station or another running the ad "Turn on the Lite..." and someone pulled the cord for the light. I think it aired during the Tigers games.

Also, who remembers "listen to the scissors" from Kroger? :lol

I guess I hadn't noticed. I thought they were still playing Three Doors Down and Maroon 5. Now that there is more mix, I like it better. But why call it "today's best music" if 15% of it is new and the rest is 5+ years old?
